Prior to @marsaimartin being born @solangeknowles was friends with Marsai's cousin who she revealed during an interview with Brea Cubit that she was named after. Marsai Murry, the friend of Solange and cousin of Caila Marsai Martin was struck by a bullet and passed away in 2003. Martin was born in 2004. The @blackishabc stars middle name carries the legacy of her cousin, who was an active church goer and great influence on Solange. The family is now remembering her life through a Spelman College scholarship. They will be raising money for the scholarship over the next 5 years.
