I think it would be a lot more fun and interesting to have Jason interact with Alfred the same way someone would interact with, like... an estranged parent-ish (i can't find the right word I'm looking for)?

someone that you're connected to, but also (somehow) not.

Jason obviously fights a lot more with Bruce and has bigger disagreements with him, but there has to be some kind of quieter resentment towards Alfred somewhere in there. right?

of course, neither dc nor the fandom is brave enough to fully explore Jason's relationship with anyone in the batfam, so I'll have to stick to my headcanons.

I'm so late for this ask it's not even funny (⁠｡⁠ŏ⁠﹏⁠ŏ⁠), I'm so sorry love, also if I got something wrong or messed up it's bc I've got the memory of a goldfish and I'm super busy and have zero time to re-read these comics rn.

my beef with Alfred is that he's the world's biggest enabler, partially due to the writers refusal of having someone disagree with Bruce, but after some time it stops being bad writing and just becomes writing.

he's the main advertiser of the whole "Jason was always doomed to crime, he got himself killed bc he was an angry child" narrative. Alfred doesn't care for his "grandkids", all that matter for him as a character is Bruce and what benefits him, sending basically civilian Tim to save Batman and Nightwing, the memorial case, Jason's Robin suit, making Damian Robin, abandoning his own daughter for Bruce/The Wayne's.

Like, this is very much an "writers don't see adopted children as real children more than anything", but the way Alfred treats the other kids compared to Damian is pretty palpable ngl.

Having him be this doting grandfather that loves Jason and is a safe port for him is laughable, because that's just not Alfred.

Jason doesn't have that resentment towards him because he's not aware of the slander, Bruce is personal because that's his dad, Alfred was just the nice employee at home.

I still love Alfred and Jason having a relationship and their disagreements, but they just didn't have the time to get that attached to each other.

Of course some people want him as their dad, he's the best at hugs after all.

He'll never be the person to break a hug, if a kid is finding comfort on him, Jason will let them hug him for as long as possible if they're not in danger. He's also great with boundaries, while he understands some kids need hugs, he also knows that his height and size intimidate other kids, so head pats and pinkie holds are also some of Red Hood specialities.

His pockets are always full of secrets, he has lollipops and colorful band-aids, if you manage to talk with him on a slow night he'll walk you home, pay for groceries, buy you food. There's some wayward homes funded with his money, well hidden in the alley, away from the police and CPS.

I feel like Jason would hesitate a lot about this matter, while he does like kids and is usually good with them, he has the money and means to support a child through life, however taking care of a kid full time is a lot of work and people need to be really read to bear the responsibility of it.

Jason's role as the Red Hood would also put the kid in danger just by proxy, he wouldn't purposefully put his kid in a costume and have them fight crime, but just the thought of someone going after his kid and hurting them because they were Red Hood's child would be off-putting enough for Jason, if he were to adopt it would be waaay later in life when he's not as active in vigilantism.

I also feel like as someone who grew up with very little examples of how good parents are supposed to act, he would be hesitant and end up doing way too much to compensate for every small mistake.

Opinion on Arkham Knight Jason Todd?

Don't know if your talking Arkham Knight Genesis comics or the game, but let's talk game !!

Design and storyline wise one of my favorite versions of Jason, voice acting was perfect perfect amounts of hurt and assertiveness, I liked that they made him look young despite being massive because like, yes he's baby!!!

And while I like that Joker lured him after butchering kids and stitching their dismembered parts together, which while gruesome, is good to show Jason's care for kids (which was kinda missing in modern media).

I also liked how his first reaction for it was kinda "Batman has a moral line that he won't cross? Well I'm ready to cross it rn!"

I love fishies and since that cover with Penguin inside the aquarium all I can think about is crime lord Red Hood looking after a aquarium filled with fishies, corydoras are just my favorites lol
