STAR TREK: PICARD // S1E7 Nepenthe Before your sister came to me, I was haunted by my past... and marking time. Wasting my life. But now, I'm alive, and I have a mission, which means there's not a hell of a chance that you or anyone else can stop me.
"La Sirena DnD Classes" ~ literally tell me *anything* you are happy to share please because I am S.C.REAMING at the very concept
Thank you and @song-spero and @dragonroar87 for asking about this! It's made me convert some vague bullet points into something (hopefully) slightly more readable. This is the first half, and I'll reblog it again when I finish the rest :)
La Sirena crew as D&D classes
Given how weird the La Sirena crew are, I think that all of these beloved weirdos would probably be homebrew everything. But here’s what I'm guessing they would be with 5e classes!
Soji - Sorcerer: Clockwork Soul
"An event in your past, or in the life of a parent or ancestor, left an indelible mark on you, infusing you with arcane magic." -PHB
Soji didn’t ask for the powers and abilities that she has - they happened to her because of her lineage, be that Data as an ‘ancestor’ or Maddox as a ‘higher power’ (gross). Her powers are a surprise to even herself, which feels very ‘Wild Magic’, but an even better fit is Clockwork Soul, especially when one of the d6 manifestations of the sorcerer's power is “Your skin glows with a brassy sheen” which feels very Coppelius-coded.
For background she gets Anthropologist, for the Adept Linguist feature (you can communicate with humanoids who don't speak any language you know) which would tie with the “speaking to an xB in their mother tongue” situation. She also has Cultural Chameleon which lets her blend in undetected with organic races as a synth.
Picard - Bard: College of Eloquence
“Adherents of the College of Eloquence master the art of oratory… These bards wield a blend of logic and theatrical wordplay, winning over skeptics and detractors with logical arguments, and plucking at heartstrings to appeal to the emotions of entire audiences.” - Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
Sounds pretty accurate to me! Picard is a Bard, because it rhymes AND because it’s true. For background he gets ‘folk hero’ since he objectively IS that (at least as far as Starfleet is concerned), and it comes with artisan’s tools of choice - in his case brewers tools as it’s the closest to wine. He also gets proficiency in animal handling because JL is a horse girl at heart 🐎✨ Which would be the end of it up to TNG S2, but then we get Locutus of Borg which we’re going to (as with all the xB’s) represent with a 1 level dip into Warlock - more on that when we get to Seven. Picard ALSO can’t stop there with the multiclassing since he spectacularly fails his death saves and is resurrected as a Synth - give that man a little sprinkle of Clockwork Soul too. Extensive main character energy for sure XD
Rios - Fighter: Cavalier
While Echo Knight would be an interesting way of explaining Rios' holosquad since these fighters are ‘Surrounded by echoes of their own might’, Rios is undoubtedly a Cavilier.
“The archetypal Cavalier excels at mounted combat. Cavaliers also learn how to guard those in their charge from harm, often serving as the protectors of their superiors and of the weak. Drawn to right wrongs … many of these fighters leave their lives of comfort to embark on glorious adventure.” - Unearthed Arcana 40
If you swap “mounted combat” with “Spaceship combat” then the Cavalier Fighter is perfect for Rios. He’s at home in the captain’s chair in both combat and leadership and seemingly can’t resist doing the right thing even when it’s difficult. He’s drawn to protect everyone that steps onto his ship, and his Starfleet and therefor military streak runs very deep - Cavalier are loyal and flamboyant soldiers, and hey, he already has the hat with a big feather!
Sadly Rios also has the shadow of what happened on the ibn Majid to deal with, a huge helping of death and tragedy that changes the course of his life from loyal officer to a smuggler on an unregistered ship. For this we’ll give Rios 3 levels of Rogue, enough to get him the subclass “Phantom”.
“Many rogues walk a fine line between life and death, risking their own lives and taking the lives of others. While adventuring on that line, some rogues discover a mystical connection to death itself.” - Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
Rios is haunted by the death of Vandermeer and can use Whispers of the Dead:
“Echoes of those who have died cling to you. Whenever you finish a short or long rest, you can gain one skill or tool proficiency of your choice, as a ghostly presence shares its knowledge with you.”
The three levels of Rogue also help with his current lifestyle of transporting people around and asking very few questions. His background is Smuggler to account for his unregistered ship (and notable swagger)
Raffi - Rogue: Inquisitive
“As an archetypal Inquisitive, you excel at rooting out secrets and unraveling mysteries. You rely on your sharp eye for detail, but also on your finely honed ability to read the words and deeds of other creatures to determine their true intent” - Xanathar's Guide to Everything
Mastermind, strategist, and sometime manipulator: Raffi needs no multiclass, she’s a Rogue Inquisitive through and through. The features Ear for Deceit and Eye for Detail give her that super reliable insight and Perception we know her for. At 17th level she gets Eye for Weakness (“you learn to exploit a creature's weaknesses by carefully studying its tactics and movement.”) which feels very *her*. Raffi’s background is Hermit, since she holed up at Vasquez rocks with her Tool Proficiencies with a Herbalism kit- aka snakeleaf.
Elnor - Monk: Way of the Kensei
“A kensei sees a weapon much in the same way a calligrapher or a painter regards a pen or brush. Whatever the weapon, the kensei views it as a tool used to express the beauty and precision of the martial arts. That such mastery makes a kensei a peerless warrior is but a side effect of intense devotion, practice, and study.” - Xanathar's Guide to Everything
It’s very tempting to make Elnor an Oath of Devotion Paladin because some of the Tenets of Devotion are honesty, courage, and compassion, and Elnor clutching the Fenris SOS in the artefact would be a great casting of Beacon of Hope (bonus - it would also give Hugh an advantage on his death save) However our boy is proven to have truly dogshit charisma (everyone abandons him, his jokes don’t land, and even other Romulans shun him - that boy is an outcast among outcasts - of course I love him, but charisma may just be his dump stat) so Paladin is out.
Monks of the Way of the Kensei train relentlessly with their weapons, to the point that the weapon becomes like an extension of the body. Founded on a mastery of sword fighting, the tradition has expanded to include many different weapons and 6th level comes with One With the Blade which seems about right. Give him a reskinned Vorpal Sword for his tan qalanq - since that decapitates an enemy on a crit. Then add his background as Acolyte from his time in the House of Truth, meaning he can lodge there for free as well as ask for assistance. Thanks for reading, I'll add more when I have the brain power!

My opinion on Star Trek Picard:
Soji Asha and the Romulans >>> Jack Crusher and the Borg.
