Moving Forward - Chapter 10
Fandom: Obey Me !
Pairing: Satan X OC ( Paisley)
TW: morning sickness
Diavolo, Barbatos, Asmo, and Lucifer were riding on the train to get to the town Satan was currently living in when Diavolo got the call from Solomon confirming her pregnancy. Diavolo wore a worried look as he hung up the phone. “Well, she’s definitely pregnant.” Barbatos looked out the window next to him. “I wonder if we should be worried. She is carrying a half-demon child; it could be dangerous for her.” Silence fell over everyone for the remainder of the train ride as they considered what Barbatos said.
The train arrived at a small town, and after walking a fair amount, Diavolo led them to a secluded cabin. Diavolo knocked, they heard from inside, and the door opened. When Satan saw everyone standing there, he narrowed his eyes. “Wha- what’s going on? Lord Diavolo, we agreed to let me finish the year here.” Satan felt confusion and anger rush through him. “May we come in?” Diavolo asked without answering Satan’s question. Satan opened the door and stepped out of the way. He shut the door once they all were inside. When he turned around, he crossed his arms. “Do you mind explaining why you all are here?” Satan asked with a bite in his voice.
Asmo took in Satan’s appearance. He wasn’t a beauty queen as Asmo was himself, but Satan took pride in his appearance. As Asmo skimmed Satan, he noticed how disheveled Satan looked. His hair was long and hadn’t been combed. He was wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants accompanied by a pair of mismatched socks and was well on his way to growing a beard and mustache. This wasn't his put-together older brother. He was suffering. “Especially you!” Satan looked right at Asmo his anger evident. Lord Diavolo stepped in front of Asmo, protecting him from Satan’s wrath.
“Let’s sit down and talk,” Diavolo said, wanting to get right to the point. Satan led them to the living room, where they all took a seat. Asmo noticed Satan had books piled up next to the couch. He was glad to see he was at least doing something he loved. “There’s a bit of a situation with Paisley.” Diavolo didn't waste any time getting to the reason for their visit. Satan felt worry climb up within him. “Is she alright?” he asked, and Lucifer crossed his legs. “No, she’s not Satan because of your irresponsibility. She’s in this situation.”
Asmo shook his head. “You don’t know the whole story, Lucifer.” Lucifer looked at Asmo and raised an eyebrow. “Do tell then, dear brother, what do you know of the whole story? Hm? They slept together, Satan took advantage of our exchange student.” Barbatos put up a hand. “Let’s stay on track here.” Satan looked back and forth from everyone, annoyed with Lucifer; he glared at him, “I would never take advantage of her! How do you even know about that?” Barbatos cleared his throat for them to stop bickering.
“Can someone please tell me what’s going on?” Satan finally demanded. Diavolo cleared his throat and leaned forward to look into Satan’s eyes, and with a soft, even tone, he said, “Paisley’s pregnant.” The blood drained from Satan’s face. “What?” He said it so quietly it was barely audible. “Solomon took her to the human world to see a doctor. They did a full examination on her; she’s about eight weeks along.” Barbatos added.
Satan grimaced. “I didn’t think this was possible.” He put his head in his hands. “No one’s purposely impregnated a human before. I don’t think it’s ever been attempted to my knowledge, at least in my lifetime.” Diavolo says. “I didn’t purposely impregnate her. This was an accident.” Satan says curtly. “We need to get you home, Satan,” Diavolo says, and Satan looks up. “I guess I have no choice.”
Asmo adjusted in his seat. “What?” Satan said forcefully, “She’s not exactly happy with you.” Satan pressed his lips together. “I figured she wouldn’t be. I kind of just left and never answered her.” Asmo gave Satan a sad look. “Satan, she’s really, really sick.” Satan rubbed his head and looked at Asmo. “How sick is she? Is she okay?” Asmo frowned. “She can’t keep much food down.” Worry settled in Satan’s stomach. He was beside himself and didn’t quite know how to react or how to feel. He wanted to be there for her, but he didn’t think Paisley would have anything to do with him.
When they returned to town, Satan went to his room and unpacked. Lucifer called a family meeting to explain the situation, and then Asmo went to Satan’s room. The door was ajar, so he let himself in and cleared his throat. “I know you’re pissed at me, but let me help clean you up.” Satan studied Asmo for a minute. “Fine,” Asmo beamed. “Great, let’s go to my room.” Asmo grabbed Satan’s hand, dragging him to his room.
Once they were in his room, Asmo motioned for Satan to sit. Asmo took a spray bottle to wet Satan's hair and combed it. When he started cutting it, he built up the courage to speak. “Are you okay, Satan? Because you don’t look okay.” Satan closed his eyes tightly. “I know,” He opened his eyes and sighed. What Lucifer said about taking advantage of her. I don't remember anything; what if I did take advantage of her? What if I hurt her?”
Asmo cut a piece of hair, then went around and set the comb and scissors down, and kneeled in front of Satan. “Oh, Satan. I know you would never take advantage of her or hurt her. You've always been so gentle with her.” Satan was forlorn as he looked at Asmo. “Listen to me. This is not your fault. It’s mine.” Satan shook his head. “No. You didn’t know. You were trying to help.” Asmo sighed, “I was, I didn’t know the potion would make you forget. I’m so so so sorry, Satan.”
Satan’s emerald eyes met Asmo’s. “I don’t blame you. I’m not really that mad anymore.” Asmo put his hand on Satan’s knee. “You’ve been dealing with this all on your own.” Asmo looked at his brother, “You aren’t alone anymore; I’m here for you, Satan, whatever you need.” Asmo smiled. “I’m sorry I attacked you. I’m also sorry for what I said. I didn’t mean it.” Satan says with regret. Asmo patted Satan’s knee before standing up. “Don’t worry about it. Water under the bridge, I’m just happy you’re back.”
Asmo returned to work, cutting Satan’s hair. Once Asmo was satisfied with Satan’s hair, he set down the scissors and comb. He turned his back to Satan as he set up his clippers to shave Satan’s face. “How’s Paisley been doing?” Asmo switched the blades and then looked at Satan. “She’s been spending a lot of time with Solomon; shortly after you left, he started teaching her magic, but they’re together all the time. It’s been good for her. She’s blossomed. She was practicing on everyone…Everyone but me.” Satan furrowed his brows, “it’s fine now. We made up.” He turned the clippers on and shaved Satan’s face, then shaved it close with a razor. He painted his nails. “There you go. Now, when she comes home, you won’t scare her.”
Satan stood up. “Thank you, Asmo, really.” Asmo wrapped his arms around him. You’re welcome. I love you, and you’ll get through this together with Paisley. I know you will.” As Asmo released him, Satan pressed his lips together. "What do I say to her?” Asmo brushed some hair off Satan’s shirt. You’ll figure it out. Let it come from your heart. You love each other. It’ll be fine.”
Satan sighed. “I hope so.” Asmo looked Satan over. “Let's go eat." Satan and Asmo went to the dining room together. Satan sat next to Beel during dinner, and he turned to Satan. “I’m happy you’re home,” and Beel slung his arm over Satan. Giving him a half hug. Mammon came up behind him. “We all are,” and he hugged him from behind.” Levi smiled at him. “I’m happy too and happy to be an uncle. I’ll read TSL to them and teach them all about anime.” Mammon released Satan and stood up. “Yeah! I wonder, though, if it’ll be a demon or not?” Lucifer brought his dinner out. “We’ll have to monitor her and the fetus very closely.” Asmo shook his head. “It’s a baby! Why can’t you call it a baby?” Satan was quiet during the remainder of dinner and cleanup. Everyone let him be, knowing he was dealing with a lot.
Immediately after cleaning up, he went to the bookstore and picked up a book about demon pregnancies. He wished they had books on human pregnancies as well, but he guessed no one wanted to know about such things. He bought two books on the subject, changed into his pajamas, settled in, opened the book, and absorbed the information.
The next day, after freshening up, Satan sat in his room comparing his book of demon pregnancies to the internet of human pregnancies and wrote key highlights in a notebook. He concluded that the anatomy was the same. His biggest worry was if the baby could potentially hurt her while it was inside of her. It appeared that babies don’t develop their horns and tails or wings until they are about six months old, the same concept as growing teeth he supposed.
He heard the front door open and then close. Suddenly, there was commotion from the living room, and he heard Mammon’s voice booming with laughter. Then he heard Solomon’s voice and, finally, Paisley’s. Satan left his room and watched them fawn over her, but she looked pale. “I know you all are excited to see Paisley, but she hasn’t been feeling great,” Solomon said to try and calm them down. She smiled weakly. “I’m happy to see all of you, I really am, but I need to lie down for a bit.” She escaped and rushed right past Satan to her room. He doubted she even saw him standing there.
Satan knew this was probably his best chance to talk to her, so he made his way to her room and knocked on the door. “Come in,” she said flatly. She was lying on her bed with her arm over her eyes. "Are you okay?” She knew that voice; it brought a sense of nostalgia that made her heart leap even if she didn’t want it to. “I needed to lay down.” Satan came into the room and shut the door.
“I know you aren’t feeling well, but we need to talk.” She sighed. “I know.” Satan pulled out the chair from the table and sat down facing her. “Why’d you leave me, Satan? You didn’t even say anything. You were just gone.” He looked down. “I thought we both needed space. I thought you wouldn’t want to see me with everything that happened.” She moved her arm and looked over at him. “I needed you, and you weren’t there! You promised you’d never leave me, and you did! You lied to me just like everyone else in my life.”
Satan dragged his hand over his face. “I didn’t want to lie, I wasn’t going to, but then everything happened. I didn’t want to be part of your pain. I couldn’t handle that.” Paisley sat up. “Is that how you really feel?” Satan was looking down, “You could never be part of my pain, Satan.” She says, a deep crease forming between her eyebrows. He looked back up. " I was more hurt that you, just up and left.” He nodded sadly. “I’m sorry, I never meant to hurt you. It was a bad choice.” She scoffed “I’ll say.”
She sat up. “I have something for you.” She got up, went over to her bag, and rummaged through it until she pulled out a glossy paper. “It’s a picture of the baby. I got two, so I thought you’d want one.” He studied it. “I don’t see it.” She pointed to where the baby was. “It doesn’t look like much right now, but that’s it.” A little smile graced his lips. “That’s our baby” he said it as a statement. She nodded. “Yeah.” He stood up in front of her. Then her face dropped. “Paisley?” He said with concern, but she was out the door so fast he barely registered her leaving. The bathroom door opened and shut with a bang.
Solomon had a couple of pill bottles in his hands as he walked down the hall. “Paisley,” Satan knocked on the door. Can I come in?” Solomon stopped. “Is she sick again?” Solomon asked Satan. “I think so,” Satan replied, and Solomon frowned. I don’t know if the medicine is working. We just ate, and she didn’t eat much either; everything comes back up.”
Satan looked at the bottles. “What are those?” He held them up. “Oh, her prescriptions. One’s a prenatal vitamin, and one is for her nausea. She's probably ready for another one, but they make her sleepy. I’m just going to put these in her room. Let me know if you need anything.” Solomon patted Satan on the shoulder and went into Paisley’s room.
“I’m coming in,” Satan said through the door. Her head was in the toilet, and Satan pulled back her hair, but she wasn’t just throwing up. She was dry heaving, and she let out a sob. Satan rubbed her back, “Take it easy,” Satan said soothingly. Finally, when her stomach calmed down, she sat back. “I’m sorry,” She says as she wipes her mouth with some toilet paper and leans over to flush the toilet. “Does this happen often?” Satan asked. Paisley saw the look he was giving her. He was worried. “Every time I put something in my stomach.”
“Is the medicine the doctor gave you helping.” She sighed, “I don’t know, a little.” Satan watched her stand up and rinse her mouth out with water. She grabbed her toothbrush and put toothpaste on it but turned her head, trying not to gag. “What is it” She placed the toothbrush down. “It’s the smell of the toothpaste.” Satan looked at the toothpaste. “I don’t think you can get unscented toothpaste.”
He took her hand. “It’s okay; let’s get you to bed.” She nodded, and he guided her to her room. He drew back the covers and looked at her. “Don’t you want to take your jeans off? Wouldn’t it be more comfortable?” She knew he was right. She would be a lot more comfortable without them on.
“Turn around,” He chuckled as he turned around. “I’ve seen you naked, Paisley.” She unzipped her pants. “No way you don’t even remember it.” She fell back on the bed, sitting down. “I can’t!” He turned around. “What happened?” He laughed. “I just feel so awful I can’t.” She had her pants down to her knees. “I’ll help you.” he peeled her pants off her legs and folded them, placing them on the chair. He tucked her in. “Sleep now.” He paused. “You want the TV on?” She smiled, happy that he remembered. “Yeah.” He turned the TV on then kissed her forehead. “I’m going to take care of you, I won’t leave you again.” He brushed her hair back and turned off the light. “Get some rest.” Satan went to the kitchen and put the sonogram on the fridge for everyone to see. He lingered momentarily, studying the picture, and smiled to himself.
