DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- After two months of delays from renovation, with an hour later extension from 9am onwards, Negrosanons witnessed the soft opening launch of "Cherie's Cheesecake House and Café" near 'Coco Grande Hotel' last Monday (August 11th, 2025 -- Dumaguete local time) on 'Hibbard Avenue, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental'. It was earlier recalled after June 2025, gradually transitioned from "Jekyll's Arcade" on 'Cervantes Street' near 'West City Elementary School' (WCES) to a bigger and newly established relocation on the said avenue.

'Disney XD News' and 'OneNETnews' broke the exclusive story this morning as one on-duty female cashier named "Meghan" (not an actual full name to protect privacy) spoke on the current relocation, dessert menus and future plans of the popular indie cheesecake spot.

Being a sole proprietorship, the indie cheesecake brand of CCH is independently owned and operated, with a specialty in cheesecakes and dessert tables, and is also able to customize cakes to celebrate special occasions. CCH started its journey during the years of Chinese global pandemic on Thursday (May 18th, 2023), at Jekyll's Arcade before moving to its larger location.

This was in response to its space constraints in its old and simple establishment that could accommodate a maximum of eight (8) persons. The new location on 'Hibbard Avenue' upgraded its size to 30 seats, with indoor and outdoor seating to support increased numbers of guests. There have been changes in the menu, which now features 15 cheesecake flavors, and more are yet to come. The store has become a full-fledged café with customers having a place to relax as they indulge in their desserts.

According to Meghan, the higher price point of their cheesecakes reflects the premium quality of their ingredients, such as top-grade cream cheese. A whole 18-inch diameter cheesecake starts at PHP1,250 Philippine pesos (nearly U$D22 dollars), while a single slice costs PHP145 (or U$D2.60). The business also offers a 20% discount for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens on their dine-in or takeout orders, as strictly mandated by the Philippine law.

The soft opening was delayed due to construction and costing issues, but the team wanted to ensure the new place was perfected before opening its doors to the public. The official reopening was streamed LIVE on the Twitch broadcast of local public media broadcaster 'OneNETtv Channel' just about 9:55am. The brand invites everyone in Dumaguete to come and enjoy their cakes and coffee, now with a wider range of offerings and a better atmosphere.

The indie cheesecake house opens daily from 9am to 10pm. But it may be changed until next week, before finalizing the actual business hours, possibly from 8:30am to 9pm, per the source told 'Disney XD News'. CCH's grand opening launch is still pending, with the exact final scheduled date is yet to be announced.

Management officials of CCH are carefully polishing operational details and are preparing to have a bigger and better celebration underway. The official grand opening is possible within the coming months, perhaps a year or two, somewhat debuting at a local festival or community event like the upcoming Buglasan, Sandurot, etc. The café will remain in the soft opening phase until that date, welcoming locals of Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental, especially foreign tourists to come by, and collecting the first online reviews of their new dessert menu and location together.
