Soft Lit - “Only Natural”
Cheaters are pretty much one of the absolute scums of the universe, alright? Words really can't be minced when it comes to matters of fairness in love. If only each and every one of the world’s adulterers could be rounded up in a wagon, shipped off to some secluded location far away from the rest of humanity, and left their to suffer without any food or water as a symbolic gesture reflecting the way they selfishly left someone else to starve emotionally through their act of selfishness. Yes, this even goes for you, Rory Gilmore. It takes two to tango, and if you’re so unhappy in your relationship, then at least have the gut to end things before you go banging away at some other piece of human garbage who shares the same degraded take on morality as you. Seriously, fuck off. That being said, trigger warning to all scorned readers out there: The subject makes listening to “Natural”, the new single from the rhythmic NYC post-punk duo Soft Lit a little tough to digest. They vaguely summed up the 49th installment in Godmode’s Faculty series by saying it's “about cheating,” with it being a little tough to tell whether Tara Chacón’s soulful confessions are taking on the perspective of a lusty mistress or the woman left with questions in the dark (I think the former, sadly?) Whatever the case, stepping out on a lover is far from natural. It’s just being an absolute asshole. There's a good dance track in here somewhere if you can look past how sad and discouraging other people's actions can make the world appear, though.
