Hinoka saw Leo’s eye twitch as he flicked his gaze nervously to his right and back again, and his smirk quickly shifted into an embarrassed one. ‘Just answer the question.’

Rolling her eyes, Hinoka put one hand on her hip. ‘Dunno, but you’ll probably be disappointed if you expect anything.’

Leo let out a snort of laughter. ‘All right, yeah, that was pretty weird.’ He glanced to the side again, a little less anxious this time.

Hinoka followed the Nohrian’s gaze. She squinted at the figure she just caught before they had obscured themselves.

‘Was that fucking Niles.’ It was rhetorical, of course, Niles was pretty hard to miss sometimes. Looking back to Leo, she added ‘Did he put you up to this?’

Leo leaned back, quite far, and refused to make eye contact. ‘Nnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooo.’

Hinoka simply stared at him. Leo glanced back at her and he shrugged, with a nervous grin still ever present.

Suddenly, he dropped his arms and he straightened up again. ‘Ok maybe he joked that you only keep me around out of pity, or… at least something along those lines.’

Hinoka blinked, unable to respond for a few seconds. ‘What? But you knew he was joking?’

Leo shrugged again, ‘Yeah. But, you know me. Regardless of if they’re true or not I get The Anxiety about the dumbest things, hahahh.’

Hinoka sighed deeply. She spread her arms out. ‘You look like you could use a hug.’

Not bothering to say anything, Leo simply stepped closer to her and she wrapped her arms around him in a tight embrace.

Leo sighed. ‘... You know, this is gonna sound really strange, but, like… Gods, your hugs are great.’

A laugh escaped from the Hoshidan princess. ‘Yeah that is kinda strange.’ She moved one hand up to place it on Leo’s head. ‘But, to be honest, you kind of are strange. But hey; that’s one of the things I find so endearing about you.’

It was Leo’s turn to laugh a little, as he stepped back again, his face turning a slight shade of red. ‘Geez, when did you start getting so sappy?’

Hinoka shrugged without thinking. ‘Well, now you can go back over to your retainer and… find some way to tell him he can go fuck himself, I guess.’

My all-time ultimate fave character:

Character I didn’t used to like but now do:

Not ‘didn’t like’ per se, but I was pretty indifferent to Emil when I played Automata because it was like ‘ok so this guy’s just shown up out of nowhere and seems to be some sort of Chaos God’ BUT THEN I PLAYED GESTALT and finally found out what the heck that was all about and OHHHH BOY

Character I used to like but now don’t:

Honestly there’s not a single character I particularly dislikeexcept maybe a few npcs in Gestalt but I can’t remember who they were really soooo…… yeah

Character I’m indifferent about:

hmm……. Do Jacob and Gideon count? From the Two Brothers’ Weaponry? idk

Character who deserved better:

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the entire NieR series is about some nerds who deserved betterso basically, they all did

I don’t really feel too invested in ships of a series as dark and tragic as NieR lmao;;;

HECKhmmmm….. for Automata; probably a lot of stuff to do with 9S in the C/D routesIf you wanted something in particular, probably after A2 enters the Tower and it goes back to 9S after the explosion……. you know the bit I’m talking about(i mean that voice acting is A++++ man)

and for Gestalt; uhh……… probably any interaction between Nier, Kainé, Emil and Weiss, they all have such great b a n t e rThough if you wanted something actually from the story, probably either the scene when Weiss gets his memories back, or when Yonah wakes up when you’re fighting the Shadowlord 

Storyline that never should have been written:

The story in the NieR games are one of the best parts, I wouldn’t change any of it :Y

First thoughts on the game(s):

Automata: I’ve heard this game is Sad, let’s see how cold my heart truly is

Gestalt: ……….. Let me know what the fukc happened with Project Gestalt and the whole deal with Kainé and Emil

Glenn

He’s the youngest of his siblings

he’s hella gay

along with thijs, glenn was the first proper ocs i had, if memory serves

he’s constantly in a state of hating Thijs and being like ‘this is kind of dumb, he’s trying his best to make it up to me’…. and i mean constantly

when he was younger, he really looked up to his brother. of course, that changed when Thijs done did The Thing

Even Glenn’s reaction to Neo is usually ‘ow, the Edge’

I am genuinely considering the idea that Glenn and Neo maybe start dating

he like… almost deliberately tries to make people not like him. Not because he wants to, but because he feels like that’s what is supposed to happen. (idk, Thijs’ lack of foresight really messed him up, tbh, he really feels like people keep him around out of pity)

He mainly taught himself how to use a sword, but his sister helped too. And he knows how to use a spear, and he’s pretty good at magic too, but he really doesn’t want to use the same weapons as Thijs.

The original (and bad) plot Glenn and Thijs were in, Glenn was more the main character. Not to say he isn’t anymore, but Thijs is present for much longer than Glenn.

Thijs (already mentioned this, but its pronounced ‘tice’)

I think he was initially going to have glasses, but now I think they’ll over-complicate his face because he’s already got those tattoos under his eyes

When he wants to learn something he goes all out. That boy will not stop ‘til he’s got significant information on whatever it is.

He’s the oldest of his siblings, the middle child is their sister Jamie

He may or may not have a lowkey crush on Blair, whoops

he never really felt at home in his tribe, so he often kinda… went out and did his own thing. He did it more and more often for longer periods of time and he never really showed up back home much, so that’s why Glenn hates him now

Thijs does realise that he made a mistake with that, and the poor boy is doing all he can to make it up to his brother, but it just ain’t working b/c Glenn’s a stubborn bitch

he’s almost definitely the one to ask if you have questions about anything, he just has a plethora of random information

Sometimes he wonders if he should cut his hair, but then he has second thoughts mainly because of Glenn

when he makes mistakes, it’s really hard for him to not berate himself about it

he can get so caught up with trying to make sure everyone else is ok that he’ll neglect his own wellbeing

I like to think of them as nonbinary, but I’m going to let the player decide what pronouns are used for them, I think

they really don’t feel like they have a head for politics, so they leave that to their sister when it comes to ruling the kingdom of Cera

Oh yeah, their sister is called Caoimhe (which is pronounced ‘kwee-va’)

they have a very strong sense of responsibility, probably too much; they’ll try to help just about any member of the royal guard

they sometimes have trouble expressing their emotions, so sometimes people misunderstand what they mean

they’re well rounded in every type of weapon. No sword-locked lord here, lmao

They uh… kinda often shape their personality to fit better with the people around them, to the extent that sometimes they don’t really know if they have their own personality anymore

they can often get lost in thought, and they just kinda… stare into space when they do (more than usual, lmao)

they really want to end the war between Cera and Ketyn, and quite frankly they are prepared to do anything to do so
