MeWe Groups for Genealogy
Many genealogy societies are dependent on their local libraries for places to hold meetings, classes and study groups. For many groups, the Coronavirus pandemic has shut down access to libraries and other places for meetings. It is a smart move to insure our members do not get sick from other members.
While we don’t want to see any of our membership getting sick, we do need a way to protect our members and still provide society services. That’s where MeWe comes in.
MeWe’s group features make it possible to build a digital meeting place that’s open 24/7. Not only that, we can create multiple groups to support special interest groups and even provide a place for our board members to meet and manage the business side of our society.
Here are some of MeWe’s features that can be very useful for your society . . .
1. Maintain a library of research materials - in PDF format - for your members. By saving these publications in MeWe your membership will have access at any time from just about anywhere.
2. Use MeWe’s Group Events Calendar to schedule upcoming member meetings, board meetings, project deadlines and other important dates.
3. Take advantage of the Group Chat feature to support special interest groups and even society meetings. You can communicate and collaborate with your members from just about anywhere - just as long as both sides have WiFi and/or cellular connections.
While many of your MeWe tools are open to all - groups, polls, videos, messages, etc., there are also times you only want a few members to have access. You can set a group to be private/by invitation only. You can also set specific permissions for your members related to sharing, posting and what they can see.
