I’m so excited to hear ur comprehensive thoughts about the deh movie but already oh my god ur so right about them not wanting anyone to be at fault. They literally removed everyone’s choices until it’s like no one had any agency in the story at all. Everything was either an accident or a misunderstanding or a product of circumstance instead of conscious choices and outright lying. Smfh
YEAH I'm gonna go through this more in my full run down but neither larry nor cynthia are really shown to have made any parenting mistakes except for a few lines in their fight at the end, jared no longer encourages evan to lie at the start and doesn't sell connor buttons or anything, evan plans to confess everything at the dinner and it's cynthia who says "I assume you had secret email accounts to talk to each other? and that you remember good things about connor?", alana is the one who suggests the connor project and evan just goes along with it after she makes her case why, we lose that moment at the end of ywbf where we see evan starting to choose to keep the lie going so he can get things for himself and later it's zoe who pursues him romantically, etc. cmon give me back my realistically flawed bastard characters who do terrible things all the time :(
