Because there was a cultural relevance as well, it went deeper than football. I think thatโs what made a lot of young lads and girls resonate there. We didnโt have a lot of money when I were younger, so I didnโt have great boots growing up. Like anyone who didnโt have a pair of Predators, of course I always aspired to have a pair. It was a social statement. I remember looking at those as a kid, and it was just so far out of reach thatโฆ it was so far out of reach, it was like this godly thing that I wouldโve loved to have had. But [Yorkshire gibberish] I didnโt even really know that many people who had them. Thereโd be occasionally a Sunday game, where you would see a star player have a pair of Predators on, but itโd be rare to even see them. Which, even that created this mystique and this power in them. x
Stupidly, almost, it does increase confidence. You look good. You feel good, or something like that. I do think thereโs an element of that. I mean, donโt get me wrong, Iโm not putting the boots on and smashing it in the top bins every time. But I do think it brings on an air of confidence. x
Iโm not saying that it wouldnโt have been brilliant. It wouldโve just been something else. [โฆ] It doesnโt matter how many times I watch that clip. My whole body got goosebumps, man. Thatโs why we watch football, you know. For those moments. x
To take on the role of essentially being the new face of the Predatorsโฆ that is an enormous task, in the same way of taking the Number 5 at Madrid. These are big, big decision. x
