„Absolutely not. No. Way. “

„Oh, c’mon! Sas! “, Naruto was exasperated, running after Sasuke – following the raven around in their living-room as he was vacuum-cleaning. Sasuke was truly grateful for their old device – this way with the loud buzzing it was partly possible to blend out Naruto’s constant whining. His luck didn’t last though.

It ended up in smoke when the blonde just pulled out the power cable, making the vacuum stop.

Sasuke turned around, giving him an irritated look. „Naruto! What the hell- “

But Naruto was smirking with the power cable in his hand, spinning it in the air triumphantly. Sasuke just wanted to punch him.

„We have to talk about this. “, the blonde insisted. „This is important. “,

„It’s not. “, Sasuke rolled his eyes at the other’s antics. „I already told you several times now. We’re not going as freaking salt and pepper to that Halloween party. No way. Forget it. “

„But why-„

„Because it’s stupid. “, Sasuke crossed his arms; it was inexplicable for him how Naruto didn’t see the issue here. „We’d be the laughingstock. “

„But you told me that I could choose our outfits for this year after –“

„Good outfits. “, Sasuke moved over, taking the power cable out of Naruto‘s hand. He wanted to finally get all the cleaning done today. „You know, like the ones I picked out last year. “

Naruto’s face fell almost immediately at the memory. „You dressed me up as a monster while you were Frankenstein! You totally tricked me! “

„Well, it’s not my fault that you didn’t know that Frankenstein was actually the scientist, not the monster itself when you agreed to my idea. “, Sasuke stepped past Naruto; he was just about to lean down to the wall socket, when Naruto suddenly grabbed his wrist, making him halt. The raven raised one eyebrow. „What? “

„You’re going as salt, you’re salty enough to fill the role, believe me. “

They stared at each other.

The raven only knew too well what that competitive glint in Naruto’s eyes meant, he would fight him – not even thinking about giving up on this.

 „…I hate you. “, Sasuke eventually sighed. He detached himself from Naruto’s hold, pinching the other’s forearm in return.

“Oi-“, Naruto immediately jumped back, feigning pain, „Actually, last time I checked you definitely still loved me, a lot. “, his face broke into a large grin, knowing he had won the argument.

He moved closer again, a quick peck on Sasuke’s lips. „Salt and Pepper, it is then! “, Naruto exclaimed happily.

„Salt and pepper it is. “, Sasuke repeated, defeated - wondering how he had fallen so incredibly hard for such an idiot.

But one thing was crystal clear.

A sudden loud knock made Naruto flinch – his every move coming to an abrupt halt almost immediately. He raised his gaze, meeting Sasuke’s dark eyes.

„Naruto?? Are you there? Why is the door locked? “, Shikamaru seemed even more annoyed than he usually was.

„I’m busy! “, Naruto cried out, making Sasuke smirk. The raven had just returned from a mission, stopping by Naruto’s office as soon as he had arrived back in Konoha. They had discussed the mission for a while, staying professional – doing their jobs. Yet, at some point – when Sasuke had been done with the report – Naruto had moved around the desk, losing no more time to finally connect their lips in a heated kiss. The blonde didn’t even know how they had managed to lock the door at some point, or how they had ended up with Sasuke pressed against the wall in his Hokage office and Naruto sucking on his throat, leaving marks all over his porcelain skin. Yet here they were – completely lost in each other, when Shikamaru had turned up, completely ruining the moment.

People didn’t know about Sasuke and him. Well, Shikamaru might suspect something, but he had never addressed it, probably deciding that knowing would be too much of a drag.

Still, Naruto didn’t know how long things could stay like this. He wasn’t the best person for secrets, he didn’t like hiding – especially not his feelings, even more when it was about Sasuke of all people. After all, he had been kind of obsessed with the guy ever since they were kids. Naturally things had turned out like this.

He wanted people to know how happy he has been lately.

Naruto slowly raised his hand, brushing over the marks he had left all over Sasuke’s neck. He activated his kyuubi chakra, already set on healing the wounds he had created – when Sasuke grabbed his wrist, stopping him.

Naruto gave him a confused look.

„You don’t need to do that. “, Sasuke whispered, a dark glint in his eyes. „I…love your marks on me. “

„Naruto!!“, Shikamaru’s voice echoed through the door once again. Naruto’s brain kind of short-circuited.

Then, the blonde noticed a portal opening behind Sasuke, the raven letting go of his hand, only to slowly step back, starting do disappear into it. „See you at home, usuratonkachi. “He gave him a wink.

Naruto was left standing there in his Hokage office, completely beet-red, his heart hammering in his chest.

I achieved my goal of doing 10 fics (yay) and I completely failed at making these stories max 2k, with the longest story being 6k and a total of 28k (oops).

Like last year, I will be rating the fics from my favourite to least favourite! This doesn't mean that the higher ones are the best, just that I enjoyed writing them, am proud of them or experimented more because of the prompt.

🥇 the moon in ripples — sun/moon, 6k, fantasy I loved writing this fic so much. I rarely write fantasy, so it was a new experience, and I got really into this worldbuilding 🥈first love / late spring — vampire au, 1.5k, tragic with an hopeful ending my first vampire au ever, so exactly what snsmonth is about 🥉it starts as an accident — accidental kiss, 2.8k, high school this whole fic was just a little goofy cute high school au, but very enjoyable

4th a small change — sapphic & lingerie, 2/2 - 2.8k I would have never written genderbend sns if it hadn't been for this prompt, and I enjoyed doing gender exploration for them! This fic was the one I was most nervous about when uploading (and that's why it's up so high).

5th offers for an onigawara — historical japanese, 2.9k, fantasy I was surprised that this story ended up being what it is, with the fantasy elements! I enjoyed using canon material as details in this fic. Again something I usually wouldn't have written.

6th lying next to you / in and out of consciousness — sasuke and naruto over the years, 2.9k, canon tragic with an happy ending, kind of stream of consciousness. Something about this was such a nice way to wrap snsmonth up

7th lose my head — drunken confessions & sharing a bed, 2/2 - 3.5k even goofier drunken college au, had an honest blast writing this, just fun and then even more fun

8th after we're warm from the bath — hot spring/family, 1.6, post-canon feels very relaxed, domestic and is a bit horny too

9th your empathy and my ice cold objectivity — office au wanted to write a sexy office au and ended up writing them as engaged child support/rights workers? oops? which btw i know nothing about

10th easy as beathing — blank period, 1.4k, canon this fic is really okay but it's just not that special to me, catches the conversation in which they decide to leave together

11th finally - fake dating/yearning, 3.3k, high school this is another fun and messy high school au but it's definitely not the best one, especially compared to It starts as an accident and Lose my head

Sasuke closed the door behind him, a tired yawn finally escaping him– hidden away in the privacy of his apartment. Work had been tough today and it had gotten pretty late once again – luckily, they had managed to finish the project at last. No more long hours. That meant he could finally relax again and more importantly spend some time with his loved one.

Curious about the unusual silence around him, Sasuke peaked inside the living room. The floor lamp was on, pulled over next to their large orange couch. Sasuke still couldn’t believe he had let Naruto talk him into buying that hideous thing. Yet, the blonde had looked so, so happy back then; his blinding smile shooting an arrow right through Sasuke’s heart.

He started moving closer, tiptoeing – until he came to a sudden halt. Sasuke couldn’t help but stare for a long moment, his eyes quickly taking in the sight presented in front of him. Naruto was spread out on their couch, completely surrounded by all kinds of pillows (even the ones from their bedroom), and – on top of that – holding a hoodie which Sasuke recognized instantly to be his own in his arms, cuddling the cloth.

Unconsciously Sasuke etched the imagine into his memory.

Naruto had built a nest. Sasuke had heard about those things from his mother, had known that some omegas still did that – it was supposed to be an instinct, mostly when they missed their mate. Sasuke bit his lip. He has indeed been very busy lately, doing a lot of overtime. Naruto had never said anything though, he had never criticized him.

He would definitely make it up to Naruto, he decided. Carefully, the raven reached out, softly caressing the blonde’s cheek. At first, there was a small whimper, a twitch – just before Naruto slowly opened his eyes, looking at the other sleepily.

“Sas.”, a small smile crossed Naruto’s face. “You’re finally home.”

Sasuke gave him a short nod. “Sorry for taking so long.”

Naruto turned slightly, facing him completely. “Don’t worry about it. You had to finish that project, after all. It happens.”

Sasuke hesitated for a moment. He was so incredibly lucky, he realized once again.  He was so in love.

 “Can I come into the nest?”

It was almost comical, how Naruto’s eyes instantly widened – a deep blush spreading over his cheeks at the realization. He seemed to have completely forgotten for a moment. Sasuke gave him a smirk.

“O..of course.”, Naruto pulled the hoodie up, hiding his face. “Idiot.”, he mumbled.  He could feel Sasuke sitting down next to him.  The raven carefully pulled the hoodie away, revealing a still very red-faced Naruto.

For a moment, they just wordlessly stared at each other.

Naruto eventually averted his eyes again. He cleared his throat.

“Do… you like it? The nest, I mean.” There was a small pout on his face. However annoying Naruto found this, his inner omega demanded his alpha’s praise. Sasuke would kindly give him that.

He was used to his mate’s antics by now. He moved his hand, brushing through Naruto’s soft blonde locks. Then, Sasuke leaned down, effortlessly placing a small kiss on the other’s head.

Sasuke is singularly focused.
