DO: Know yourself. Understand if you work better in the morning or at night and if you like working in a cafe or a library. Determine whether you prefer several short study sessions or a couple long study sessions. Plan according to all of these in order to maximize your time by making high-quality work every time.
DON’T: Be afraid of saying no. Before saying yes to going to do something, first access everything that’s already on your plate and if it’s a priority or not. If it’s not important and you don't think that you’ll be able to manage it, just say no.  I know it can be hard, but you don’t want to overwork yourself.
DO: Prioritize. There are plenty of methods you can use to figure out how you should prioritize your tasks. But the most important thing to remember is that tasks that add value to your work and are important are the ones you should concentrate on.
DONT: Set unrealistic goals. Goals will motivate you to work harder. But if they’re unrealistic, they’ll do the opposite. They’ll stress you out and you’ll waste your time trying to achieve the unachievable. So make sure that you give yourself enough time to do everything.
DO: Minimize distractions. Did you know that you could lose up to two hours a day to distractions? You could get so much work done in that time. So get rid of anything that could distract you from the task on hand. Put all your electronics in a different room. If you need them, block every website except the ones you need. Don’t listen to music with words while working or try to multitask. You’ll waste so much precious time.
DONT: Fail to make a to-do list. If you don’t make a list, there are very low chances that you’ll remember everything you need to do.
DO: Always plan in detail. Simply knowing what you’re going to do is not enough. Know exactly when you’re going to do everything and for how long. If you don’t do this, you’ll end up procrastinating and wasting time. You’ll also be able to insert more tasks into your workday if you know exactly how much time you want to spend on something.
DONT: Wait for motivation. If you always wait to have “motivation” before you work on something, you’ll never get anything done. Adopt self-discipline and study or finish that assignment even if you really don’t want to do it. Think about my future self and goals whenever you’re unmotivated. Will you regret it in the future if you don’t finish that assignment on time? Will lulling around keep you from achieving your goals?
DO: Take breaks. Do not dismiss breaks as a waste of time. It’s not healthy to be working or studying all the time and it definitely affects the quality of your work. After a certain amount of time, you won’t be able to really focus or work as effectively if your brain hasn’t had time to recharge. All in all, it’s counterproductive and you’ll actually be wasting more time if you work nonstop.
