The idea of Dick always being the one to initiate hugs with Jason, so when Jason hugs him out of his own free will Dick lowkey has a panic attack.
The other bats have no problems hugging Dick when they’re happy, sad, hurt, etc.
Tim hugged Dick when he got back from his first date with Kon and was excited and raving about how amazing it was.
Damian hugs Dick after a risky move made on patrols, promptly followed by punching him in the gut and muttering curses about how stupid Dick is.
Cas will find any excuse to hug Dick every day, knows how he loves being hugged and reminded how much he’s loved.
Duke hugs Dick whenever he notices he’s at a low point mentally, Dicks a bit too quiet or zoning out one day and Duke figures he could use a pick-me-up and takes him out for food and then hugs him and tells Dick he’s there for him.
Steph is just as touchy as Dick most days, hugs after sparring, making a show of being able to pick Dick up in-front of the press at Galas, hugs him whenever she or Dick have had a bad day, etc. etc. she loves hugs almost as much as Dick loves hugs.
Hell , even Bruce as no problem with his hugging. He’s been dealing with them for longer than anyone else, even Dicks actual parents, and he’s grown to love getting them. Knows how much comfort and loves Dick pours into them, and when he hugs Bruce he relaxes and knows he’s safe. So Bruce always indulges.
Jason will lightly push Dick away from any physical touch. He sometimes let himself indulge a bit, patting his back once or twice and then pushing him off. But no physical touch from anyone but Roy or Lian get more than a respectable two to three seconds before they’re being forced away. Jason comforts others with a soft pat on the back, or a ruffling of hair while he passes them, or a headlock to tease them.
It doesn’t even matter why Jason hugs dick one day, maybe one of them almost died? Maybe one had been kidnapped or threatened or reminded of something bad in the past?
But, Jason just randomly full force bear hugs Dick, he’s confused. Jason is crying (?) (and quite possibly bleeding?) while his face is buried in Dicks shoulder, and everybody is confused.
Dick thinks he’s hallucinating Jason again.
He panics, pushes Jason as hard as he can and runs. They were infact on a building, and now this ex-acrobat is leaping and flipping roof to roof to get as far away as possible. It’s an insane thing to be happening at like 3AM.
But Jason just sits on the ground where he landed. He feels stupid for hugging Dick now. Did he hate him now? He thought Dick liked hugs? And he figured it was a pretty emotional moment that just happened so a hug might be warranted for both of their sakes.
But no. Dick just shoved him and ran as far away as he could.
Ensue angst, miscommunication, Roy and Kori getting involved when their respective partners show up in weird head spaces and different states of panic.
