i think my fave reviews are the ones where people use the text of the story to vibe check the author/scriptwriters/etc, it’s the haughtiest way to preach to the choir, pretending like ppl are ignorant of what they’re writing when you’re using their own writing fully in context as evidence of your own ideals.

I was watching a Riverdale review and per the usual they pointed out the way the character’s spoke as evidence of poor writing while going on their own reference fueled soliloquies, seeming to miss entirely that the cast of Riverdale is full to the BRIM with try-hards so it does makes sense they’d speak like pretentious hipsters from 2009.

Like that doesn’t make it good but I think that was the point and painting ones self as better while doing the same thing is HELLA meta.
