How To Get Rid Of Freckles

What Are Freckles?

Freckles are spots where your skin has produced too much melanin (the chemical that causes dark pigment). You are genetically pre-disposed to get freckles, but unprotected sun exposure can give you more freckles.

Freckles mostly appear on your face, but can show up anywhere.

How Can You Remove Freckles?

We attended a seminar on “How To Get Rid Of Freckles” which looked at the treatment options open to you. The most effective treatments treat the over production of melanin. So we went about finding the best solution to give results in the quickest time.

To get rid of melanin, we need to heat the pigment up to 70 degrees so it's destroyed. This takes time, a course of 6 or 10 treatments, depending on how many and how deep in colour your freckles are.

We also need to resurface your skin, to help lighten your freckles immediately and trigger your skin renewal mechanism.

You then produce new skin cells that don’t have the pigment and your freckles fade over time.

How Long Do Results Last?

Once treated, freckles can stay away for up to 7 years. So the treatments are really good value, but just as you are genetically pre-disposed to having freckles, they can reappear on your skin spontaneously.

The Treatment

We combine IPL (intense Pulse Light) technology to destroy pigment, with microdermabrasion to trigger your skin’s renewal mechanism to remove freckles.

The Intense Pulsed Light focusses itself on browns, reds, and deeper tissue. The heat vaporizes the browns, coagulates the reds, and heats the deeper collagen tissues. Your body’s healing mechanism then takes over and gets rid of the browns, absorbs the reds, and thickens the collagen fibres.

Microdermabrasion and skin peels lighten sun spots and remove layers of skin that contain the pigmented cells. You also increase the blood supply which is necessary for skin regeneration, repair, and increased cellular turnover.

When To Start Treatment

You need about 3-5 months for a course, and you also need to make sure you’re not going to get significant sun exposure during your course, so NOW is the perfect time, while the winter is here, to start a course

Does it Hurt?

The treatment causes a very short stinging sensation while you are having it. It’s a bit like someone snapping an elastic band on your skin. It’s quick and disappears very quickly.

The degree of discomfort is also down to how many freckles you have as the freckles absorb the energy directly.
