Classic Rock - February 2022
Some of my friend’s pics from the Warfield the other day! We were hanging out with Frank Sidoris & the security guy on the left side, front row. Had a fucking blast, I definitely recommend catching them if you have the chance – even if you don’t know many of their songs, I think it’s still worth it for the close-up, small venue experience that you’re not going to get with gnr. The crowd was a range of ages, I saw t-shirts from just about every project Slash has been involved in from gnr to vr to snakepit, even kings of chaos.
Also – note Slash’s badass goldtop explorer in the third pic!

Speaking of Kimmel, have you guys seen these backstage pics?? Killing it in that jacket, damn!
2022 Forecast for SMKC and GNR:
[current as of 1/30/23]
SMKC:
Prior to the album release, four songs, one music video, one lyric video, one behind the scenes video, and three episodes of 'The Making of 4' were uploaded on youtube. Slash has been doing interviews to promote the album since October.
On Wednesday 2/2 Slash was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel for an interview and a performance with SMKC. Other press tour highlights include a performance and full-band interview with Eddie Trunk, an appearance on Conan O'Brian's podcast, and articles in Classic Rock, Rolling Stone, etc.
The River Is Rising Tour kicked off on 2/8 in Portland Oregon.
'4' was released on Friday 2/11 (a rolling release by time zone/country, in the US 12AM EST or Thursday 9PM PST)
On Friday 2/11, at 11AM PST, SMKC streamed a full performance of the album, filmed last May in L.A., followed by a live Q&A for youtube premium users
The River Is Rising Tour wrapped up in Florida in late March, but Slash means to pick up where he left off with an international leg in early 2024.
A full concert recording of SMKC at the House of Blues in Boston streamed on veeps.com on Friday 4/15.
SMKC Live at Studios 60 was released on vinyl on Record Store Day 6/18.
GNR:
The Hard Skool EP was officially released on Friday 2/25, including the 2021 singles Hard Skool and Absurd, and live versions of Don't Cry and You're Crazy.
GNR was planning to play Rockville in Florida (May 21 – cancelled due to weather) before heading off to tour Europe (June-July), Brazil/Latin America (September-October), and finally Asia/Australia/New Zealand (November-December).
Slash has reported that "new Guns material is coming out as we speak." I'd anticipate new singles released the same way as Absurd & Hard Skool in 2021.
A 30th Anniversary Use Your Illusion I & II Deluxe box set will be released 11/11, including previously unreleased live audio & video. Two live singles and a music video have been released so far.
Slash has suggested that GNR might go into the studio to record new music after their world tour wraps and all the CD-era singles are released. (Previously he said they might compile all the singles into an album.)
Other:
Slash recorded a cover of Mississippi Queen with Marc LaBelle of Dirty Honey (3/25)

Fill My World isn’t just written about Myles’ dog, it’s written from the dog’s perspective while home alone during a storm.
