#small cities

Today I wrote in to the city council for the city I live in, I proposed an environmentally friendly initiative to take as well as long-term benefits of the project. The city I live in is small, but if we have enough money to fix brick roads, we have enough money to install solar panels and wind turbines down main street, maintenance would create jobs and expand local infrastructure besides. Truly it would pay for itself, if you want change you have to speak in beneficial terms at first, then if it doesn’t pass, do things outside the system until they reconsider. I hate working within state boundaries, but I’m doing what I can.

I’m working with my local museum to make a new exhibit accessible to people of all ability levels. My OT friend and I walked them through some changes that would be great, but at the end, oh at the end...

It’s a “toys through the generations” exhibit, and they are making wooden doll packaging boxes as photo booths. One was GI Joe (blue, army stars, etc.), and one was neon-pink Barbie. 

I suggested that such heavily gendered photo boxes were something I absolutely would not recommend. How about gender-neutral superhero boxes instead? 

They mumbled a little but agreed, and the education director pulled me aside after I left and thank me.
