I still remember how Pokenchi spoiled dusk doggo evolution before the episode aired, like I get it, it was a reveal for the new form, but it would have been so much better if Pokenchi had revealed it a week later lol

Gladion and his Type: Null hype! And Rockruff is gonna evolve!
This was a good episode, I don’t have that much to say but it was good none the less, Satoshi was good, everyone being good friends and helping him search was good, Rockruff was good, evolution was good, Dusk Lycanroc is a cool boy, I like him, the colour has grown on me, it’s a nice mix of orange and brown, contrasts well with the white (I’m mad that he’s apparently an event Mon though, COME ON Gamefreak, what is even the point of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon? Could’ve been an event Mon for the original SM games). I also like that they referenced Green Flash as the actual real world phenomenon that it is, instead of making something similar up for the Pokemon world. It’s kinda hard to believe that literally no one in the anime’s canon has EVER evolved a Rockruff like this (you’d think some researcher would’ve tried to evolve one during every possible time of the day by now) but I guess it’s cool that Satoshi has a unique Mon that’s a bit more grounded now. Showing Type: Null is cool, standard plot set up but in Pokemon that’s a lot lol. Most interesting thing was probably Tapu Lele’s personality. It has some chaotic tendencies with how it beat up Rockruff for fun during the night and tossed the Lycanrocs around with Psychic, and used their and Satoshi’s energy with Drain Kiss to heal Rockruff, without warning. You gotta stay cautious with this guardian spirit, I like it.

We didn't manage to finish Akala arc yesterday, but we will now! Satoshi's trial done, still an awesome trial, time for the Grand Trial and then Dusk doggo debut 👀
Akala arc done, it’s just as good as I remembered it to be. Great trials, great development for Kaki, Suiren and Lilie (alongside obvious Satoshi ofc), and the animation was gorgeus. As a whole package, it’s my second favourite Grand Trial arc. Or close third with Poni Arc just a teeny bit ahead, let’s see how I feel once I get there. Ula’Ula still remains on the top, at least for now, let’s see how I feel about it once I actually get there, that’ll take couple weeks I guess lol.
I remember when SM037 served as the Dusk Lycanroc debut. They spoiled it in Pokenchi first, which imo was a lousy move, but it still did its purpose on debuting it well. Ah, the memories of everyone calling it Dorito Doggo.... XD
This arc also showcased one of my fav personality traits of Satoshi: Iwanko is shown to be close to evolving, and has the option to evolve into either Midday or Midnight. Instead of Satoshi prefering one or the other, he tells Iwanko to evolve into whatever it wants to become. And then it becomes neither but Dusk Lugarugan instead lol. It’s just such a... sweet trait of him.
I’ll probs try getting to Kanto Arc tonight, then call it a night. We’ll see how that goes, should go to bed in 2 hours or so lol. Might not be able to make it, hahahaa... ha.
Part of me wishes all of the Grand Trials looked like Akala and Melemele did, makew me wonder what happened during Ula'Ula and Poni to have no-as-great animation. Hmmmm.
Anywho, one more Akala Arc ep left. I forgot about the 'doting father Kukui' preview for SM037 lol
