Anyone who really knows me knows that I'm struggling right now. I literally was looking at the calendar when scheduling my surgery saying, "No, I can't do it then because of this. And I can't do it then because of that." I chose a date after convention work and before the Pastoral Anniversary. I definitely didn't want to get too close to the holidays. 🤦🏾‍♀️ I had even accepted an invitation to be on program for an event a few days after surgery. My SIL brought me back to my senses. In all of that planning and scheduling, all I was thinking about was how my surgery and downtime would effect others. I'm the reliable one. The dedicated one. The faithful one. It saddens me to let anyone down. But, I had to be reminded that rest and self-care is necessary and important. One of the main quotes of self-care is, "You can't pour from an empty cup." We can, also, find several scriptures where Jesus encouraged those who followed Him to care for their temples, to get to a quiet place and get some rest. We, also, know that Jesus would get to a place of solitude to pray. So, I'm not sure why it's so hard for us, as Believers, to practice self-care and take the proper time to rest. And as much as I want to get back to "Life", I'm trying really hard to listen to my body. Any surgery is no small thing. Shame on anyone who thinks otherwise. Thank you, again, for all of the love shown and the prayers prayed. I can feel all of it! And I promise I'll be back in action as soon as I can. But, for now, I'm learning to rest and....not....do...anything. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Pray for me! That's Lebanon Kansas. Smack dab in the center of the Continental United States of America. 💪❤🇺🇸 Yup. It's getting pretty chilly. But thanks to me doing one thing at a time over the year's this old house is really starting to hold in the heat. Makes me happy to know that my hard work is starting to pay off. Yup it's still cold but nowhere near as cold as when I first started out in this old shack. I can actually warm up no problem when it's only 8° outside! I'd say that's progress. 💪😊 Oh right!! The backhoe guy finally came and the grounds around the house look awesome! And the cistern has been filled in!!! Finally just before dark. Got that plywood cut out and perfectly fit. It'll look a lot nicer when it gets painted in the late spring. And I find a small double paned window that'll fit in it. Got some motivation a couple day's ago. It really cheered me up and made me want to do something for myself today. Also helped that old grump stack a little more wood. And today was a warm beautiful day. Everything worked out today. For an old crab like me anyway. Bing! Bang! Boom! Pow!! Another section insulated! Alright! Today was long but worth it. I helped a grumpy old goat get some firewood together then took the rest of the day to do this. Not a day to soon as it started snowing last night. Got cold early this year. This year's been nuts more way than one. I like it when Gaiya or God or the elements? Who or whatever makes it snow around Christmas. It seems so much more magical. Currently just chilling in bed with my O2 mask on watching GREASE! I love this old movie. The guy's act way to childish which ain't to cool but hey it's a movie. Sucks not having a little lady by my side to watch things like this with. And have our kids roasting marshmallows over the fire later after a long cruise. Right? yeah. I still love that stuff. Can't wait to build my garage! Sucks not having cement. Something to mechanic on. If I can finish this house good enough to be able to adopt a few kids I could teach them how to build stuff so they could give me a hand getting this place together. That'd be great. But no way am I having anyone here till I get it together. Or at least running hot water and electrical stuff out the way. Then I can find some good kid's that want to learn like I did when I was a kid and give em that chance I needed to make something of themselves. Sometimes it's just all about being in the right home to get motivated. I know what it feels like to have to worry about where your going to sleep at tomorrow or next week. A kid don't need to go through that but I've seen it happen plenty. I know what it's like to feel like ya ain't good enough or don't have any value and just left in a group home or boot camp. Anyway. Yeah it hurt. Don't like to see kid's deal with that. Or with deadbeat parents. I always thought me and my wife would be adopting but I can't wait forever. No one's trying to fill that position. That's fine. As I traverse through my journey as a yoga teacher I discover more and more along the way. I’m learning how much I enjoy guiding people into relaxation and breath. I love watching students release as they take their exhales. It gives me a sense of purpose, to provide a container for this unwinding. With so much stimuli (social media, TV, information overload...) We live in a go big or go home world and I think now more than ever do we need a time to undo, allow, and consciously breathe. I sometimes question my posts because I think there’s already an abundance of info out there & I don’t want to add to the overwhelm. On the other hand I do want to share and post about what I have to offer. I’m still figuring all that out but if it was for me, it would all be different. The reality is we live in a time where using these platforms gets the word out. All this to say is that I have found comfort in teaching yoga at a slow pace. The yoga I fell in love with when I needed to slow down is what my heart is going back to. For me to be able to facilitate this for others fills me up.
