Using time and lighting in art reminds me of reading manga. It can be used for this art form to convey sounds, light, and time passing without seeing or hearing anything. When I think about the dimensions of time I think about art like hieroglyphics or any art trying to communicate the changes over time. One of my favorite works of art that show time passing is the ‘Slow Rush’ album art by Tame Impala. The photos were captured by Neil Krug in the Namibia desert that used to be a successful mining town for diamonds. The cover resembles the passing of time by the sand filling the insides of buildings naturally over many years, and the album speaks on time taken for granted or moving too quickly. The fact that really anything can become insignificant over time eases my mind in a way that Billie Eilish stated it. She said in 100 years no one will remember who she is, so she can do anything she wants and no one will remember. Something we praise so much and that brings great value can one day be forgotten and left to be buried by memories or ruins. The whole album and artwork really give an interesting perspective over time visually, and through sound.
