The new TV came with a 2-month free trial of SlingTV, which I activated today. It's sort of a cord cutter cable alternative. Right now, I doubt I'll keep it after the trial. Like cable, it has preset channel packages, and even the basic packs come with way more sports channels that I'll ever use. The trial is for the Blue+Orange package, which runs $40/month. Plus side, I got caught up on Steven Universe, legally. And since Syfy is in the mix, I can check out The Expanse ( @mywitfailsme has me intrigued). Negatively, IT STILL HAS COMMERCIALS. But at least they're integrated into the stream, not like Hulu. We get enough OTA channels, and have enough through Netflix and Hulu, that I doubt I would consider this worth the cost once the trial is up. But for someone who lives outside the range of local OTA channels but can still get decent high speed Internet, it may be an option.
