Going through httyd again and I find it so interesting that Eret says ādragon trapping is hard enough work as it is without do-gooder dragon riders sneaking in to rescue them.ā
He call the riders do-gooders. He acknowledges that what heās doing is wrong. Heās genuinely only doing this to save his own skin. I know this is a kinda trivial thing, but I love how this line encapsulates his character the moment we meet him.
Like in rtte, we see how lowly the hunters view the dragonsāthey even run dragon fight rings for crying out loud! And we get this immediate dichotomy between them and Eret. They seem to enjoy what theyāre doing, while heās over here trying not to die. Especially Viggo, like his redemption arc is about him learning to see dragons as more than what he thought they were, and realizing he was in the wrong (I think; itās been a while). But Eret instead has to gain courage and rebel and do whatās right, consequences be damned.
