Hear me out on this alright? Logan who after being rescued from his brainwashing and brought back to his senses has a vague memory of someone outside of his team.
When he asks about it, everyone looks at him weird. They have no fucking clue who he's talking about, because as far as they know he has most of his memory back with the exception of a few recruits and people he met in passing. But he goes on and on about this one person, who's face he doesn't remember but he remembers their presence.
He stops asking for a while, convincing himself that they aren't real, that he's made them up as some sort of coping method. Sometimes he'll get flashes of memory though, little snippets of someone wiping dirt off his cheek, or putting a band-aid on a cut.
He's no longer in the military, nor is Hesh. They were both honorably discharged after Hesh finally found Logan. They live together, mostly because Logan needs more help integrating into society again, the rest of the reason is that Hesh is terrified of losing Logan again.
Logan takes Riley out on a walk, the sun has just about begun to rise as it's 4 am and Logan can't sleep. He makes sure to let Hesh know where he is in-case he isn't in their apartment by the time his brother wakes up.
His stroll takes him 3 miles away from home, walking around the block he see's a hospital. Ironic, he was just there last year. It's a lot quieter in the early morning, less people rushing around, more staff walking out at the end of their shifts. They all look tired, dark circles under their eyes, scrubs out of place, and hair askew.
He stands there for a moment with Riley, observing. He's not sure why, maybe it's just because the location is familiar, but he feels an odd tug of something deeper. A familiarity he forgot about, because you're staring at him. Staring at him with tired eyes after a log shift, glancing between him and Riley as it clicks in your head that his face is a familiar one. He's not sure who you are though. You walk up to him, and he feels like he's done this before.
"Logan…?" His brows furrow, how do you know his name?
"..How do you know my name?" your expression shifts to one of slight embarrassment
"U-um… sorry, I just thought you were someone I knew-" He cuts you off before you can finish
"Who are you?" He asks, staring at you with his beautiful brown eyes that shift slightly green in some places.
"(reader) … is my name, who are you?" You question, hoping to figure out if he's really who you think he is.
"Logan. Logan Walker." He states, in the same breath you continue after him
"And your dog is Riley, and you have a brother named David.." He's started by that, how in the world did you know? But he nods hesitantly and you look at him like you've found something you've been looking for longer than you can even remember.
"…You're still alive? Why didn't you- … You remember me, don't you?" You ask, he wants to let you believe he does but he doesn't. Not quite, it feels like he should. He feels that same fluttery feeling he does when he thinks about the faceless person in his dreams— waking and sleeping.
"… I don't remember much. Fill me in."
"uh… well you basically got kidnapped by the Federa-"
"I know that part. Tell me about where I should know you from."
"… I worked as a nurse on the base where you and your team stayed. I quit when they told me you wouldn't be coming back but… here you are."
"oh." 'Oh.' He's flooded with various memories of you, seeing you during your lunch break, pretending to get hurt during training just to see you. Its a bit overwhelming, but he remembers you now.
"Shit, its you." he says, disbelief clouding this thoughts. You're the person he convinced himself he was imagining. You're the person who cleaned his wounds and gave him raspberry flavored loli-pops after each visit.
"Is… is that a good 'Shit, its you.' or a bad 'Shit, its you.'…?" You ask, nervousness creeping under your skin.
"Holy shit, I thought- …I need a moment." He says, leaving you more nervous than before as you give him the time he needs to process. It takes about 2 minutes until he speaks up again.
"… You aren't busy right now, right?" You shake your head, the only thing on your to-do list was to go home and sleep. But Logan was here and alive, so you could put that off for at least a few hours.
"No, I'm not busy. I just got off work." You try to offer a smile, then Riley makes a slight whimper, getting antsy at how long he's been waiting.
"You live nearby?" You nod, its about a 35 minute walk away, so he offers to walk you to your apartment.
While you walk to tells you about what happened to him, he doesn't talk about what happened when the Feds took him but he tells you about what happened after. That he lives with his brother, whom you've only met a few times and very briefly. Speaking of, you hadn't really had many interactions with the rest of the Ghosts team at all, just Logan.
He tells you about little things, like how Hesh is more overbearing now than he ever was before, how Riley will curl up at his feet in bed when Hesh is away. It's nice hearing Logan talk, even if its only a little and in very short snippets.
Once you get up to your door you look at him, he's a bit more filled out then he was when you last saw him, still just as muscular. His hair has grown out, and he has a bit of stubble growing too.
"Thank you for walking me home.. … I really missed you, you know? I was scared you had… that you wouldn't come back."
"mh. It wasn't a big deal. I ..uh… I'm glad that I bumped into you." He says, looking away from you briefly.
"I'll see you around then?" You ask, hopeful.
"Yeah. See you around." He says, you wave as he walks away with Riley. The dog stops and looks back at you, tongue out, making Logan pause in his tracks as well. The sight makes you laugh a little and you wave again before shutting your door.
Logan lets out a breath he wasn't even sure when he started holding, running a hand through his hair then looking down at Riley.
