from @skysaved: â iâm sorry, i donât believe in any of those things â for hypatia!
a much younger hypatia would have been deeply offended by the comment as if she were andraste herself. younger hypatia would have taken it as an insult or a slight against her person, questioned mislyn vehemently about her lack of belief, and certainly caused rifts between them with her defiance and blatant ignorance. instead, the much older, more cognizant human warrior is far more sensitive to the belief systems and differences of others. she's grown up with conflicts and choices, talked to many across the free marches, and broadened her horizons in those deep conversations. in fact, she's secretly glad to hear opposition here, nodding as the red-haired elf offers her perspective on andraste and the religion at large. i don't believe in any of those things is a very normal thing to say, and hypatia takes it better than she once would. she takes it kindly, warmly. she accepts it. "i'm sorry. i didn't mean to assume." she apologizes then, eager to befriend a fellow free marcher in the throngs of this chaos with the sky. whatever's going on, there needs to be more friends than enemies. "i guess i spent so much of my life submerged in religious teachings that my broad generalizations sometimes end up completely incorrect. 'course you would have your own belief system." she's dalish, right? lyn comes from clan lavellan near hasmal (or that's what she heard earlier). hypatia's never been there, but the stories are lengthy and fruitful. "well," she goes on, her voice a little awkward as she tries to recover, "whatever you believe in, i pray there's something at work behind the scenes to fix this mess." she glances up at the green-tinted sky. "or else it'll be one of us doing the fixing, and i loathe that idea."
On the topic of forgiveness he is not particularly wellâversed. He can speak at length about magic and magically aligned things and time travel and death, itself / many things, numerous things, not quite endless things though heâs working on it. On forgiveness he falters âââ has he ever forgiven anyone? Truly and genuinely / wholeheartedly. No. No, he doesnât think so. No, he cannot even begin to imagine a time when he had GIVEN FORGIVENESS FOR A TRANSGRESSION : he had never truly forgiven Alexius, even.
His thumb worries the soft leather edge of the book in his hand / they are at rest and his thoughts are racing, per usual, nothing fitting well, nothing fitting properly. They have crossed the order of Orlais and have continued west âââ they will reach Val Royeaux sooner rather than later and he wonders if sheâs trying to DELAY. ( ... ) No. No, the Inquisitor is hardly the type.  â  Mislyn,  â  her name settles heavily on his tongue as his thumbnail scrapes against the book / before he forces himself to stop.  â  Are you alright?  â
@skysavedâ // you did not ask for this but hi ily
â are you kidding? i jumped off a building â of course iâm hurt. â

         â  WHICH BEGS THE QUESTION â why did you jump off a building, mislyn. âÂ
@skysaved liked!
âI have a request, Inquisitor, if youâve a moment.â Head tilting, those dark eyes thoughtful --- distant, perhaps, though only with her ruminations.  âSome of my mages --- some of my elven mages --- have expressed discomfort with Pavus.â That she refuses to say his first name means nothing. ( the apprentices are not the only ones disquieted with the man. )  âIâm not asking you to kick him out, but Iâm certain there are many elves within the ranks who are concerned about his defense of slavery. Perhaps ask him to --- be quiet. Iâm certain it will be difficult for him, but he ought to try.â

          when hawke crosses her arms her rough fingers skim over skin spotted with goosebumps --- a reminder, hardly necessary, of the distinct unpleasantness marking her current situation.  one in a number of unpleasantnesses, in all honesty, some more pressing than others but few more unhappy than this.  ferelden is fucking cold.   â you understand, inquisitor. â  neither prompted nor polite, but when has she ever been accused of either ?   â that iâm only here for varric.  and that i donât give a damn for the rest of it. â

âdo you think someone should take a look at that?â it occurs to her that mislyn is entirely capable of taking care of herself as soon as she asks, but it looks a dreadful sort of bruise and she questions before she can consider it. she catches sight said bruise briefly, scanning over the elfâs shoulder. âi can get one of the healers for you, if youâd like-,â
@skysaved.
   âSo... Was it really TIME-TRAVEL magic?â The smuggler canât help but ask, sitting in the bar over a jug sheâd been carrying since leaving her Carta base. When she had made her way to Skyhold with the intents to set up a lyrium deal, she hadnât expected mages in such GREAT numbers. Grand for business, TERRIBLE for her nerves.
   She didnât have a problem with mages, not even a LITTLE bit, and she was FAR from Andrastian. One could go so far as to say she OPPOSED the Circles, but magic in general... it SCRAPED against her practical mind, the hard edges of PRAGMATISM that echoed the Stone from generations past.
   âBecause, uh, not gonna lie, that is... UNNERVING.â
