Skincare in the life of a... PWP!
My name is Poppy and I’m 29 years old. I’m a qualified mental health nurse currently working as a psychological well-being practitioner. My hobbies include using our home gym....I’m following a 12 week plan at the moment and I’ve made it to week 8 so I’m pretty proud of myself. I also enjoy food and travel..preferably together!
What is your skin type and main area of concern?
I’d say I’m oily most of the year round but can be combination in the winter as my face gets quite dry in the cold.
My main area of concern is my tzone as it gets oily quite quickly and this makes it difficult for foundation to stay on all day. I am also quite conscious of my pores on my nose however I have found a product that’s really helped reduce this.
Tell us about your skin journey and what your skin care routine involves.
I’ve always been very lucky with my skin as I’ve never had really bad spots just the odd one due to hormones or makeup.
I’ve used various face washes over the years and always felt my face felt like it was missing something after. I then got recommended Liz Earle cleanse and polish and have never looked back. I use this morning and night after I have showered and I love that the muslin cloth gives you a gentle exfoliation.
I use simple makeup wipes to take my makeup off. I get told by a lot of people not to use makeup wipes because it doesn’t get all of your makeup off however I always follow it by the Liz Earle so works well for me.
If it’s the morning I use the bobby brown face base which I’m new to but I love it so far and it smells delicious. This gives a smooth base if I’m putting makeup on but is also a lovely moisturiser if I’m not.
If it’s the evening I use the Alpha H liquid gold 2-3 times a week. This helps clear my pores and leaves my skin feeling really refreshed in the morning.
I don’t tend to moisturise in the evening as I find this can give me spots. However in the winter I use a no7 night cream 2/3 times a week if my skin starts to feel dry.
How many hours sleep a night do you get on average?
On average I’d say around 9 hours on a good night!
What is a typical day at work for you?
I work a 9-5 job and have a 30 minute lunch break around 1:30pm. I do however tend to miss this and can end up eating my lunch at 3pm because I’ve lost track of time. I also have to be really conscious of how much water I drink because again I lose track of time and realise it’s 3pm and I’ve only have 1 cup of tea.
I tend to stick to quite convenient foods for work such as granola and yogurt for breakfast and then a toasted bagel and banana at lunch.
How do you think your job has an impact on you skin?
I would say that my current job itself does not have an impact on my skin however I do feel that the heating in the office can definitely makes it feel drier in the winter months.
What skincare item could you not live without?
100% Liz Earle cleanse and polish. I’d happily never try another face wash again! It always leaves my skin feeling soft and I don’t get that horrible tight feeling when my face has dried. I recommend it to anyone that asks and I’ve even got my boyfriend to use the male version!
