I've always considered it interesting that the skeksis tried to create more of their kind by experimenting on animal carcasses. Someone asked me the other day if I thought the skeksis had ever tried reproducing the old-fashioned way. I think they did, but found out the hard way they were sterile.
My personal headcanon is that the skeksis mated and tried to produce offspring, but the eggs they laid were always petrified/non-viable and never hatched.
My personal belief is that SkekEkt, being the most effeminate and creative of the skeksis, was likely the one who carried the eggs, and that laying them was akin to the agony of giving live birth, so all the skeksis eventually gave up due to the eggs being duds and them not wanting to lose their Ornamentalist since they were supposed to be immortal gods in the eyes of their subjects and they needed SkekEkt around to hide their decaying bodies.
As far as who sired those eggs... I believe there are four skeksis who might've mated with SkekEkt:
1. SkekSo. He's the skeksis emperor, so if anyone got first dibs on mating rights and lineage preservation, it'd be him.
2. SkekZok. He's the skeksis high priest, third in line for the throne, and the tallest of the skeksis. He'd likely use false prophecies to get in on the action claiming divine right or some other nonsense. SkekZok's also a sadomasochist, and since SkekEkt is known for being perverse and sadistic, they might've gotten along to an extent given they probably worked together preparing for special ceremonies and public events.
3. SkekAyuk. The skeksis' Gourmand had little to no self-esteem and was easy to manipulate. He and the Ornamentalist were also known to lock themselves away together for extended periods of time. It's totally possible recipes weren't the only thing those two were swapping.
4. SkekOk. The skeksis' Scroll-Keeper was known to gossip with SkekEkt. It isn't entirely unlikely they might've been sharing more than stories and tea since it was the Ornamentalist who openly mourned with and comforted SkekOk after the Collector's death.
SkekEkt seemed to value physical appearances and reputations above all else. The Ornamentalist didn't seem too fond of SkekTek or SkekSil despite being the Chamberlain's political alli in the same court faction, so I highly doubt SkekEkt would've mated with either of them. SkekEkt seemed turned off by the far more brutish skeksis (disagreeing with their methods/ways of handling situations) such as SkekVar, SkekUng, and SkekNa. I'm pretty sure SkekShod was a no-go given the permanent damage he received from the severe beating SkekSo gave him and all the other skeksis more or less saw SkekLi as a total joke. The Ornamentalist was clearly terrified of SkekMal even though SkekEkt was the one to approach him after he returned half dead to the castle. SkekSa is an unlikely candidate as the Mariner identified as female leaning and seemed closer to SkekZok than any of the other skeksis, hence why I believe one (or more) of the four listed above would've been the one(s) responsible for siring SkekEkt's ill-fated progeny.
Google Translate surprises me again. I translate the skekEkt's phrase into English: "That's it, now I'll be punished not only for my unauthorized absence, but also for the death of a stupid riding bird!" I check how he translated it. And he translated it as: "Now I'll be punished not only for my unauthorized absence, but also for being a stupid riding bird!"
The million-dollar question in this case: who rode the skekEkt and under what circumstances?
(A short excerpt from "Let's Listen." The Ornamentalist and the Weaver are chatting peacefully and crafting, separately but together.)
"Just like in my dreams!" skekEkt glanced curiously at the counterpart's cave. "Modest... I'd even say austere! But nice," he nodded, looking like a connoisseur.
"I'm glad you like it here," urUtt smiled uncertainly. "I'd like to make you some clothing..."
"A gift? I love gifts!" Ornamentalist smiled. "Then let me make you some clothing too. You're welcome to wear it!"
"Agreed," Weaver nodded. "Everything you see is at your disposal, skekEkt."
They worked for a while. UrUtt wove and sewed a beautiful red vest for the Skeksis, which perfectly matched the rest of his outfit. SkekEkt crafted a hooded cape for the Mystic, embroidered with beads and whatever else could be found in the cave workshop. It turned out a bit pretentious and flashy, but Weaver still looked pleased.
"That's nice," the designer said after they exchanged gifts. "I haven't had such a good time in a long time..."
He turned his head, and urUtt, correctly interpreting that hungry look, moved a bowl of nuts and dried fruit to the counterpart. Its entire contents immediately disappeared into a Skeksis's open beak.
"It's almost morning. I suggest you get some sleep before the journey," the Weaver said, pulling aside the fabric curtains, revealing his sleeping area.
"Give me a nightgown and change yourself," the Ornamentalist demanded, yawning. "You don't sleep in what you're wearing, do you, like some rough Skeksis and uncouth Podlings?"
"Of course not," the Mystic smiled, taking up the fabric again.
In a matter of minutes, having sewn shirts for his counterpart and himself, urUtt changed himself and waited for his guest to do so. Then he helped a Skeksis settle comfortably on the pile of fabrics and lay down next to him.
"Cozy..." muttered skekEkt, trying to nestle his beak under the Weaver's chin. "Wonderful... I hope I don't get used to this, like to Urdrups..."
"I'm so glad you came," urUtt gently hugged him, running the fingers of his lower hands between his dorsal spines. "Come again... or stay."
"Sounds tempting, but I can't..." The Ornamentalist yawned. "I love comfort and luxury too much. Their absence can ruin a friendship..."
He basked in the embrace of his counterpart, his beak blissfully open. With his upper hands, the Weaver stroked the Skeksis's head, running long strands of red hair through his fingers.
"Although we lost a lot... by driving you all out of the Castle..."
Yawning again, skekEkt closed his eyes and fell asleep—happy, relaxed, and serene, as he had never felt before in his entire life.

SkekEkt enjoys tidying Rian up for public appearances, but even more so creating intricate and frivolous get-ups.
just some skeksis portraits
One of the funniest decisions made in The Dark Crystal novelization that was IMMEDIATELY undone in AOR is the whole clothing debacle.
At some point, it's mentioned that the skeksis more or less never undress. They just continue to put new robes on and let the old rot off their bodies.
I like to think that the AOR team either didn't know, or they took one look at skekEkt, and said "why would he be here if that was true. Absolutely not, make them bathe, just to make it clear that they have little dainty dressing gowns."
Now I actually find the novel's decision incredibly interesting, but like I said, I don't think Ekt would be caught dead letting the others do that. They would sooner throw themselves down the Crystal shaft before missing on prime fashion real estate.
