FT. nagumo yoichi

── YOU FIND yourself hesitating while holding a box of chocolates. it wasn’t valentine’s day yet—far from that; it wasn’t his birthday either—that just passed. it was just an ordinary day: a day where students still went to school, adults went to work, and assassins were given a mission.

nagumo was inside a room having a chat with your two comrades, shishiba and hyo. behind the door, you could hear laughter erupting from his chest—that laugh that could make your heart beat faster and faster every time you hear it.

years of knowing him, yet you still can’t seem to get your heart under control. at this point, you can tell everyone around you knows that you love him. and if osaragi narrows her eyes at you whenever nagumo speaks to you, then she must know your heart is pounding.

the master-of-disguise may seem oblivious, but he’s quite intelligent, if anyone were to say. however, you assumed he would rather tease you, to see your cheeks heat up.

nagumo was a die-hard flirt; his main target was definitely you.

as you clutched the box of chocolates in your hand, hearing the chatter die down within the walls, you had a second thought about whether or not to hand it over to him.

would he still see you as a comrade?

would he be willing to go beyond and date you?

two assassins seeing each other behind everyone’s back—well, this is nagumo; nothing will be a secret.

you let out a long breath before hearing the door creak open. nagumo came out and said his goodbyes to his co-workers, seeing you flee the scene and turn the corner.

he smiled, waved at shishiba and hyo, and decided to follow you. he can tell you’re up to something—his curiosity piqued.

“(name),” he called, finally turning the corner. you were down the hallway and standing in front of a window. hearing him call your name, you froze.

your breath hitched, and the box of chocolates was still in your hands, fingers fidgeting with the ribbon that tied the box closed.

he started walking closer; his footsteps became louder to you every step nearer. you only turned your head around and offered a weak smile. “hey.”

your lips pursed, and nagumo finally stopped moving; he kept a short distance between you both. “what are you doing?”

THUMP

your heart started beating faster. you turned your whole body to face him, the box of chocolates still in your hands, a pink ribbon tied to keep it closed, and a small note attached on the bow.

“who gave you that?” he licked his lips. “can i have—"

you put your hands out and offer your gift to him. “it’s actually for you!” your eyes squeeze shut, and your lips pursed. nagumo breathed out a smile and slowly took it from your grasp.

once feeling the weight lift off from your hands, you opened your eyes and noticed him examining the box. he glanced back at you. “thank you!”

he grabbed the note, read it silently, before walking closer to you. “sweet, you’re so sweet!” he kissed your forehead, and it almost gave you a heart attack.

the next thing you knew, months had passed, and nagumo yoichi, was proposing to you on the beach at night.
