note: it's beautiful. scenes from when I first read this fic linger rent-lessly. that being said, this fic, as noted above, is part of a series though it can be read stand-alone. the series starts all the way back during the marauder's era with some complicated james/sirius/remus dynamics that are interwoven throughout. the canon-divergence is Sirius surviving Ootp and then, also Remus, Tonks, and Fred. this fic is post-war, Harry just having finished his auror training, returns home to Grimmauld, where Sirius is.

personal preference note: i usually stay away from sirry fics with any implied prongsfoot (or even wolfstar)—I need my Sirius completely 1000% seeing just Harry, but this fic is one of the few exceptions; one, because of how it's done, and two, because of how it's done.

other personal preference note: i haven't yet read the draco-centric fics in this series, (he has a large part where he is a werewolf and marries a muggle; fic: Werewolf Discourse, OR: Nicolas Pereya's Coffee Shop for Dipshit Cryptids | draco/omc, 114k), but there is a sneak peek in More Than A Firebolt where we get a sweet-nugget of drarry cameo. It's funny, it's in-character, and elucidates the plot. drarry* needs tickled. The fic It's Something About Mirrors in the series, draws from their relationship via Sirius' reflection.

note: stunning. drop everything and dive into the world of Harry Potter post-war, utterly and completely lost. It's cathartic with absolutely no resolution—it just keeps going, which is exactly Harry's predicament. He's dead; he's alive. He fucks, gets fucked, wishes he were dead, wishes he were alive so that he could die, all while falling more and more in love with a dead Sirius Black he can never see again...right?

Trolley Problems by lonibal | Sirius Black & Harry Potter, Sirius/Harry (one-sided? it's complicated), 38K+ WIP - summary: Harry has a bad night, and a worse morning. OR, a twenty-five-year-old Harry tries to commit suicide by Veil and winds up in his ten-year-old body. He's not happy about that.

note: This is a spin-off from chapter 48 of Days Between the Stations. You can find it in the dbts Series, Part 3. I recommend reading all of dbts as it's posted before diving into this one, or at least getting a significant portion of the way through, maybe the first 100 chapters or so. If you're reading for the Sirry, i think it's worth it and helps flesh out the dynamics that are happening here with more electric angst (as if it needs more, but honestly, this series plucks at it again and again until you think there couldn't be more and then you learn, or rather, succumb to the comfort of realising that yes, there is. Comfort, because it rings true; comfort, because living deserves this honest treatment—that there's no going back, even when we do.).

"At least you know what you're getting into," Sirius says, and stops there.

Harry runs a hand through his hair. "Yeah. Yeah, I know."

"I can only be happy I never married when my mother was alive. She would have taken it poorly, suffice to say. Did I ever tell you she poisoned a Hogwarts girlfriend of mine?"

Harry chokes. "What?"

"A son of the house of Black deigning to elevate a muggleborn? Inconceivable, let alone that our fling only lasted a month. I learned to keep things subtler afterward. Reggie, too, even if he kept to Slytherins."

"Is that something you've been thinking of? Marriage?"

It's too dark to read the expression that crosses Sirius's face. The light of the moon isn't nearly enough. "No," Sirius says first, then, "Maybe. Nothing stopping me anymore, is there?"

"You've even managed to destroy your mum's portrait."

"I have some suspicion that she fled to another portrait, but I haven't seen her since," Sirius muses. "Good enough for now. Anyway, it's nothing yet. No wedding bells. I'm just thinking about it."
