I’m a little behind on a few redhead/ginger related things.

Yesterday was World Redhead Day! I definitely celebrated and showed off my locks for the occasion. I had a busy day and got about 2 seconds on Tumblr so wanted to throw out a Hey 👋🏻 to all my fellow ginger mutuals and redhead fans.

Also, I have seen and been made aware of the “Gingers are Black” movement that has come about over the last couple of weeks. I did see the original video that made me go “huh?”, and because I was mostly away for the last week I didn’t see how it all blew up on Tik Tok and all the socials. Hubby made me aware I was missing a huge thing.

I’ve done my best to catch up and am in awe at all the redhead love and support that has been put out there by not only the black community, but anyone who knows what it’s like to be bullied or be the butt of someone’s joke based on their appearance. For me it’s been lifelong, and just normal.

I do however feel compelled to say - one of the greatest things that I have gained from my Tumblr experience has been the support and love I have received 99% of the time. I didn’t love my hair as a kid (wanted to be blonde like my doll) but as an adult I grew to love my uniqueness and my coppery locks. I’ve gotten nothing but kindness and encouragement since I started posting my faceless self here about 10 years ago. It took me 3 years to get the nerve to do it, but me being a redhead thankfully wasn’t my worry.

I lost my virginity about a month after meeting my boyfriend (now husband) many many years ago. It happened to be the night before a geography exam that somehow I got 90+% on (can't remember exact mark now, except feeling very impressed with myself 😉) It was over at his place where he rented a room in a house and was in his single bed. I remember being worried about making noise so roommates wouldn't know. 🤷🏻‍♀️ At that point he was VERY good at teasing me into a very horny state so it felt like a very natural next step.
