My name is Dev. I am agender but that was not the gender assigned at birth. I am NOT a special snowflake, and I am NOT doing this for attention. I do not identify as male, or female. By definition, I am transgender, even though many people in the LGBT+ community refuse to acknowledge that I exist and agender people aren’t treated with the same respect as most transgender individuals.
Please do not call me a “he” or a “she.” For god’s sake don’t call me “it.” If someone asks you to use different pronouns, it’s to help them feel more comfortable in their own body.
My pronouns are They and Them. They are not strictly plural pronouns and many of you are used to seeing the singular they but don’t know it. For example: There was a cloaked figure in the clearing, standing ominously. I couldn’t figure out who THEY were, or what THEY were doing here. Suddenly, THEY drew THEIR sword, and I realized that I would have to leave my hiding place or risk being spotted by THEM.
I know it’s hard to change pronouns when you’re used to calling someone different pronouns for a while, but their pronouns exist to make them comfortable, not to make you comfortable. If one of your friends uses these pronouns, please please PLEASE make an effort to address them correctly. I promise you they will appreciate it more than you know.
I am not a boy and I am not a girl. I’m just a kid trying to make it through. My pronouns are They/Them/Theirs and if you can’t accept that please unfollow me, reblog to raise awareness.
