i THINK her original concept was that she was a stereotypical nerd who got given like magical girl powers? she was part of a whole group but i thought redesigning her specifically would be the most fun yellow color theming aside, i kept the low ponytail, glasses, and that floating little hair thing on top of her head :> i also kept the fingerless gloves i thought that might be cool. everything else i had to rehaul because the original design was so nothing

the waistband of the skirt functionally replaces the weird belt she originally had! i figured that if i was gonna go with like leggings under the skirt, fingerless gloves, AND a skintight top then i might as well just give her a bodysuit that shes wearing under her nerd clothes. i also kept the hair streaks, just increased them so that they'd look less like shading and more like a conscious choice

her pose is SORT of similar (with the hand at her waist using her light magic) (i THINK its light magic??) i just made it more fun to look at :> i also consciously gave her harder edges (her eyes and glasses are more square, her hair is more angular than my other designs) to convey kind of an uptight character

i think what gave me the most trouble was the colors because i do remember her character being YELLOW but so many of these yellows are muddy yellow-greens... i kept that for the hair and eyes, but the rest of her outfit i HAD to go for more of a mustard tint because that shade is not fun for an entire character </3
