“Dark?” He can hear Remy’s voice but it’s distant, muffled.

The white noise continues to rise until it peaks in an unending piercing whine. His shadow shivers, warping and twisting and Dark struggles to hold it together. Not here. Not now. The edges slowly crawl outwards feeling its way across the ground. It could end all this in 3 seconds flat if Dark would stop fighting.

“I’m fine!” He grits through his teeth. Nobody believes that.

The shadow turns inwards, reaching toward the hollow that carves itself into Dark's chest. On Its own It’s limited but with that delightful darkness only Damien has, It’s capable of anything. Of Chaos. Of Carnage.

“Talk to me, Dark!”

The bass in Silver’s voice booms and Dark tries to hold on to it. If he can just ground himself. He tries to respond; to tell them he’s fine but the shadow starts to draw deep from his void and every muscle tenses tight.

Decimation. Destruction. Devastation. It wants to eradicate everything in this room. To tear the building from its very foundations. If he lets It loose then no one will stop It.

Remy's always been more of a lover than a fighter but he’s been in more than a few bar brawls over the years. He may be no 'Silver Shepherd' but he knows how to hold his own.

He's taken down a few guys already but the next one dodges the crack to the jaw before it makes contact, grabbing for Remy's wrist and holding tight. Remy smirks. That was a mistake. With a wink he shoves about a week’s sleep through the small point of contact. The guy’s snoring before he hits the floor.

He shakes his hand a little as he turns, just in time to see the colour drain from Dark as he shakes and groans in place. I'm not talking pale, I’m talking full monochrome, black and white, zero saturation in every part of him from his skin, to his hair, to his weirdly formal suit.

“He’s turning grey!”

Silver knocks maybe his fifth guy to the ground, bleeding and bruised. Not as elegant but whatever works. He glances at Dark before calling to Remy.

“Call Will.”

Remy grabs for his phone but freezes as Dark calls louder, “No!”

The edges of his eyes are turning black and Remy suddenly understands why they others always joke that Dark's a demon. Dark’s breathing is shallow and pained as he raises a fist in the air before striking it into the ground, his hand passing through the floor.

“Holy shit!” Remy yells.

The fist is swallowed, sinking into the shadow Itself. Dark pulls. With his body, his heart, his mind, with all that he has, straining to drag something out that Remy suspects they won't like.

“Silver?” he says nervously.

The shadow screams, writhing and twisting on the floor around them, lashing out and tearing up the floor as it strikes.

“Back up!” Silver barks, jumping back. Remy doesn't need telling twice, backing up until there's a wall at his back. “Dark?”

Dark looks up, solid black eyes empty and hollow.

“Down!” he gutturally growls before throwing both hands forward.

Remy's head bounces off the floor as he throws himself down but he doesn't have time to worry, wrapping his arms around the back of his head and slamming his eyes closed. Whatever was about to happen, he wasn't going to fuck with it.

As he drops, an intense wind kicks up, whisking round the room, smacking off the walls and pulling at Remy's jacket and hair as it whips overhead. The room is filled with agaonising screams, until it suddenly isn't. It stops. Complete silence. Remy waits.

The room is ice cold and he's fighting against shivers as he peeks an eye out. There's nothing. No bright light, no monstrous shadow….no enemies?

The only people left in the room are Silver, a short distance away also cautiously surveying the room, Remy, and Dark passed out on the floor. There's a little more colour to him now, a slight pink to his cheeks but no living person is that pale.

In a moment Silver's at his side checking his neck for a pulse. Remy cautiously climbs to his feet and tightly pulls his jacket around him while his breath is visible in the air before him.

“Is he dead?”

Silver shakes his head. “Not yet.”

As gently as he can, he pulls Dark into his arms. There's no movement, no resistance, no response.

Silver pins Remy with a firm stare.
