Summary: You moved into the Karasu's residence as an exchange student. They're all welcoming, but the boy your age keeps getting on your nerves for entertainment. You decided to finally get back at him.
Extra details: MC is female coded, therefore will not be heavily implied as GN. However, pronouns and whatnot won't be bombarding in the story, so do with that what you will.
Word count: Like 19k or smth idk. Watch out ig.
Warnings: Possibly OOC, some coarse language, ass humor, mildly sexual content, pretty heated making out (no sex).
Getting accustomed to a different country was not a job to describe as easy whatsoever. Navigating through the train station, picking up your comfort snacks, talking to people in a different language, all of it was tiring. The minute you arrived at the place you would be staying at for the next chapter of your life, you were ready to crumble.
The middle-aged woman who greeted you seemed to have picked up on your feelings before you could utter a word. You had presumed exhaustion was written on your forehead in bold text screaming 'BEWARE!'.
She guided you through the flat. It was nice, you noted. Well-loved, yet clean. Suited for a family.
The introductions were short, but not curtâ just considerate to your need for rest. No one overstayed their welcome in your mind as you crashed onto the bed they had offered you to reside during your stay. All the worries plaguing your psyche dissolved as your depleted body began to replenish energy for the oncoming day.
From then on, it was rather smooth sailing.
The following weeks were a blur of enlightenment and accommodating to culture. Thankfully, those japanese lessons you took beforehand aided in picking up on mannerisms and gestures easier when the middle-aged woman, who you learned was Mrs. Karasu, taught you to operate the appliances around the house.
Mrs. Karasu... A kind, deeply feeling woman. She would cry for characters on the screen, then later proceed to drop an informative comment on something so incredibly niche you were feeling on a random Wednesday night.
"Y'know, he'll keep picking on ya, if ya let 'im." She continued, "He's jus' the type."
Your cheeks burned a smidge too much for your liking. Tabito Karasu, the son, was a total pain in the ass! He teased you for literally everything. Your clothes, accent, height, the cereal you chose to eat in the mornings, NOTHING was off limits. You could go on a tirade about him for ages and still have shit to say!
There really should be a competition for being annoying. Maybe he could win a load of money and fuck off to a different city... Hopefully a different country just to ensure there wouldn't be any accidental run-ins.
"Yeah, well-" Huffing out air, you shook your head away from her direction. "How do you suggest I do that?"
Her hands stopped working at the dirty dishes for a moment while she pondered. She hummed, then under the radar, a faint curve graced her lips at an idea.
"If ya haven't already, pay more attention to 'im. He's so used ta readin' others, so why not turn the tables?"
You raised a questioning brow. Taking a moment to think it through, she might have been right. Especially if you learned a useful weakness...
Eyes lighting up towards her figure with inspiration, you shot a smile at her.
"Does that mean you got info on him?"
She immediately burst out laughing at the inquiry, face crinkling with amusement she isn't used to.
"Aww, hon-" Another giggle slipped out, "I can't rat out my own son! Ya gotta do the work yerself, I'm 'fraid." She sat a clean plate down, then turned to you with mischief glinting in her dark eyes.
"Yer a smart cookie. I'm sure you'll figure somethin' out in no time."
"I'm a witch." She deadpanned.
You gasped, and mock-frantically pointed at her. "I KNEW IT!"
Getting up from your seat at the counter, you rushed back to your bedroom to kick start your scheme, disregarding the fading chuckles in the rear view. And as if the universe was on your side, you ran into Karasu's older sister, Satori, on the way.
"Oh, hey [Name]! What're ya runnin' 'round like that for?" She chuckled, preening a strand of hair that had gotten blown out of place.
Realizing your chance, you went up to her, leaning in close and lowering your voice.
"You got any dirt on Tabito?"
Her eyes widened for a second, then went back to normal as she locked in and quieted down in return, "Fer what?"
"I don't know yet, but I wanna get back at him for all the teasing bullshit."
"I gotchu, girl." She double checked her surroundings, before pulling out a sheet of paper and writing a list downâ presumably stuff about the irritating bastard.
Swiftly, she took your hand and planted the folded note on your palm.
"Use this wisely. And don't let him know I'm your informant."
"I am forever in your debt, my liege."
"Back to your quarters, soldier."
You saluted her, then scampered off to commence your evil plan.
Phase ONE: Complete. You had one confirmed comrade in this battle, alongside another that played neutral, although may have a favorite...
Now for phase TWO: Observe the subject. For him to be the victim of your plans, you needed to know every little crevice of him (pause.). This was going to be a damn near impossible feat, given he was an expert at reading people like a book. But, FEAR NOT! You just had to be careful with not looking too hard too often.
You stared him down from across the table while eating your dinner. Wellâ picking at your food. It was too preoccupying to keep a mental note on his mannerisms, rather than scarf the plate's contents down the way you usually did.
Inevitably, the observant bastard noticed, and smirked, deciding to land on a stupid remark to get you flustered. "Am I that fun ta look at?"
Your spine made an unintentional fix, but you managed to appear composed enough (hopefully).
Tabito's expression faltered, nearly falling into something uncharacteristically soft. Unnervingly so.
UNO REVERSE, BITCH! STAY FLUSTERED, WITH YOUR PUNK ASS. The imaginary audience in your mind cheered.
Just as the silence thickened, you shot another statement directed at the suddenly quiet young man, "Even prettier when you're not running your cute mouth."
Satori finally broke and giggled, slapping a hand over her mouth while she sinks deeper into her chair, and pretended it hid her increasing laughter.
A twinge of pink dusted Tabito's cheeks as the others around the table showed signs of amusement.
He cleared his throat, his regular taunting air coming back into play, "Ya should really save that kinda talkin' fer when we're alone, sweethear-"
Mrs. Karasu gave him a stern look, a silent lecture that held an underlying threat. If he followed through with his sentence, it would lead to A sentence.
The second he witnessed her minacious glare, he shut right the hell up, leaving Satori's fit of laughter ever escalating.
"Yeah, listen to mommy, like a good boy!.." An instant elbow was caught in her rib for the ridicule, however it was worth the look on his reddening face.
The pressure put on your lips to force them into a straight line was great, but your drive to dismantle Tabito's cool and collected act was greater. A fallacious veil barely cloaked the madness lurking within the windows to your soul, and poor Tabito got a peek of it waving at him.
"Here, Mr. Karasu-" You offered, "I'll help with the dishes."
Mr. Karasu didn't quite smile. His posture softened slightly, and his deft movements slowed enough for you to pick up some of the empty plates. A distant man, he was. He always seemed borderline cold to you at first, but it turned out that was just the way he operated. A reticence at heart.
Passing by, you met eyes with Tabito once more, insouciant to him having sensed that you were onto something involving him becoming the victim.
While he eyed you suspiciously, the corner of your lip tugged upward. The second an opening was available, your finger tips brushed along the nape of his neck in passing. A perfectly furtive execution.
Despite his perturbed state, his lashes barely fluttered, and his pupils dilated a split second too long in reaction to the tease.
You could tell he was tempted to excuse it as surpriseâ just a normal reflex any other person would have to a feathery touch. Though, he knew better than to mention anything about what had newly been exposed. The poor guy ended up steering his attention elsewhere while muttering a curse under his breath.
Time passed, and things were looking normal.
Tabito kept his guard even further up in the case you finally decided a time to prank, or whatever you were thinking of doing that would end catastrophically for him.
He sensed it in his nuggets. His downfall was upon him.
Lying in bed one night, his thoughts ran through every route you could take to drag his ego. He hated that his mind was cramped full of youâ squeezed into every nook and cranny in that skull of his. He couldn't take it anymore!
He set his mind on going to get a midnight cup of water. Water always helps, right? It clears stuff up, or something along those lines.
Gulping a full glass down, akin to a man parched for eons in the Sahara, he went for a refill, combing dripping fingers through his frizz once he was finished.
There was no way he was scared of you; it seems too strong of a word. But then, what could be the cause of these paralyzing emotions? He hated that he was going in circlesâ pacing in his mind without end was a cycle he both wanted to escape and confide in for safety.
"Hey, baby." Cooed an uncharacteristically sultry voice from the darkness.
How did he not notice your arrival? Was the lack of sleep plaguing him that much? He never allowed his thoughts to overwhelm the logic he held so dearly; he lacked his frequently utilized shield in this uncharted territory.
He turned to face you, raising a brow with feigned cool.
He couldn't make out your expression, yet he heard the eye roll tightly laced in your light scoff, "I said, hey Tabi."
"That's not what ya said, dingus." He challenged.
For once, he was at a loss for words. And though it was only a split second of hesitance, his scorn was already chewing him out.
"Don't shift the subject."
"Well, can you shift a little to the side? I want some too." You motioned to the tap.
Tabito obliged, wiping off the glass in his hand.
A beat of silence passed as you drank. He observed the way your throat bobbed from the corner of his eye, gaze absent mindedly trailing to your lips when he conveniently lifted his arm to put away the cup on its shelf. Although he caught himself quickly, you glanced over at the worst possible time.
Seconds later, you licked the droplets of water from your lips. The scarcely masked intent behind the gesture forced an intake of air to mollify the rush in his chest.
"It's rude to stare, y'know."
A smirk played cover over the ruffled feathers his expression threatened to slip as he riposted, "Ruder ta flirt in yer pajamas..."
Your faux smile tightened. "What else is rude is that obtuse angle you got on your head."
"Hm." His head tilted as he hung up the corners of his lips. "Try angling yerself back to bed, ya look nightmarish."
Just when he was about to retaliate, you stepped closer and whispered into his ear, "I'm gonna make sure my voice drags down your long, pretty spine in your dreams."
He was at a loss for words yet again. This has got to be a world record, at this point. Award this woman, immediately!
Ready to hurl a response, his mouth cracked open, however, you flicked his lower back and sauntered off before he got the chance.
Damnit. Damn YOU specifically.
He took a minute or two to gather his bearings, then ultimately trudged back to his bedroom in reluctant acceptance.
Stepping in the threshold of his space, he felt something was off in the atmosphere.
Of course, he looked around, only to see nothing out of place, but he knew it wasn't simply his imagination, or paranoia. He knew better than to play it down to such mediocrity.
His hearing is as sharp as he was; the amount of time it took for the sound of your door took longer than it should have, so you had to have done something prior to retiring to your room.
Though, he was too tired to keep investigating, so he ended up lying downâ wait.
Nose scrunched, he scoffed, shaking his head in disbelief. He couldn't tell if he was appalled or impressed by your sheer audacity.
"...Fucking fart spray??"
You thought that if you dropped a little prank like that Tabito would assume your revenge would end there.
No, no, no, that was only a cover up. You dished out a plethora of stupid, petty pranks, followed after 'subtly' flirting from that point on. This ultimately fired up a prank war between you two, but that was just the price you had to pay for the bigger plan.
Because when you seemed predictable enough, it inevitably created normalcy for Tabito after some time. Normalcy, which accumulated comfort in this silly routine.
You gave it about two months just to be safe, before deciding it was time to really get him.
Straight up cold turkey-ing the pranks out of the blue.
Tabito first picked up on it within a day. He didn't outwardly note anything, although if you observed carefully enough, you could spot the millisecond of hesitance etched on his features whenever you stepped in a distance too close for his likingâ flinching slightly on a good day.
This was psychological warfare. And he was aware of it, which somehow made the delivery even worse for him.
What really didn't help was his family not doing jack-shit other than sending amused glances, and God forbid 'knowing' looks his way any time you passed by!
Oh, but that was not the worst part.
You were eating up his suffering.
He meticulously orchestrated situations that put him at risk of a prank from you in an attempt to snatch some semblance of control back from you, yet you took none of them.
He hated to admit it made him nervous; knowing you were the architect of such an unfamiliar sensation drove him nuts.
You made him nervous. You spiked his heartbeat, scorched his chest from the inside somehow. You made him check on you what simultaneously felt like too often, and not enough. You had him fidgeting, as if his hands had a mind of their own and didn't know what to do with the power. You almost made him not pull away from you when your limb mindlessly sprawled a tad too close to his when you were sharing the couch together during movie night. You, you, you, you, you, youâ
"Tabito." A voice called from behind. He doesn't have to guess who.
A wave of deja-vu cascaded over him. Had this happened before? You, calling from the void like a siren ambushing her new victim.
The comparison didn't seem too far off when a hand landed on his shoulder, dragging him to reality when he zoned out.
Getting lost in the sea of thoughts seemed to have been happening an unnatural amount lately. He was never one to be unaware of his surroundings, nor was he the best swimmer.
His body was too groggy to properly shake you off, so he chose to hold what ground he had, staring at you from the corner of his eye.
"There he is." The moonlight illuminated the grin you donned in a rare way that revealed edges he didn't notice prior, nor did anyone else. Why did he like the idea of being the sole one to revel in this view?
Maintaining eye contact, he hummed as he swallowed a gulp of water, sitting his glass down with a quiet clink.
You tilted your head at the tease inquiry. "Maybe. Were ya ponderin'?"
Tabito let out a sharp puff of air and shook his head at the butchered Kansai accent. He was just about to retort, when he noticed your face stalked his in suit the moment he leaned out of view.
You had closed the distance too much to deny.
Whether it was exhaustion rotting his brain, or the insanity slowly flooding his lungs, it led his lips crashing against yours. Fear and hunger all came pouring out as his hands reached to cup the swell of your hips.
He desperately drowned all his convictions in the cavern of your mouth, trying so hard to bury the evidence of a thing he refused to name that had already taken root too deep to rip out.
You reciprocated with just as much intensity, if not more. In fact, you drew out a quiet gasp when you pushed him against the counter with surprising fervor. His legs nearly went limp as fingers dug in the hills of his back, carving love in sweet spots he hadn't known existed, and pressing him impossibly closer to yourself.
Only when he almost passed out from the lack of air did the kiss break off, but you didn't. His breaths turned sharp while your lips journeyed down the column of his neck, tearing out a strangled noise from depths thought abandoned when your tongue dragged upward.
Again, he felt utterly scorched by you, and this time, he welcomed it with open arms. He didn't care if he burned to a crisp for this pleasureâ nothing mattered anymore. Not his dignity, not his conflicting feelings, none of it. Just you, and this moment you two shared.
Erode my high walls, ruin me beyond repairâ a cacophony of desires chanted infinitely in his head, melting what strength he once grasped tightly into nothing.
"I love you, do you hear me?" You crooned, rubbing your thigh up his crotch, leaving it wedged there for his hips to try to buck forward despite being pinned in place, "Do you hear me?"
He could only nod, feeling droplets of sweat begin to form above his brow as the tension went higher and higher and higher, and so fucking deliciously, impossibly, grotesquely higherâ
He nodded again, more frantic as echoing groans spilled from his mouth, though was met with the same question once more.
"Hello??? Wake up, dumbass!"
Suddenly, his eyes shot open. The first view he was met with was his sisterâ thank the gods it wasn't you. But, that also means...
"Was just passing by and it looked like ya were havin' a nightmare, bud. Ya good?" Satori half joked, genuine concern seeping through her.
Clearing his throat, he sat up and subtly made sure his crotch was out of sight, lest he taint his dear sister's eyes with that poor image.
"Yeah, uh- yeah... Just-" Tabito wiped his forehead, urging his body to relax. Calm down. "A little shaken. I'll be up soon."
She seemed to have been satisfied enough with his answer from what he could see. Standing up from the edge of his bed to leave, she added,
"Was yer girlfriend there?" She smirked mischievously at the doorway.
Ears burning beneath his nest of hair, he chucked a pillow in her direction, making her flee with a trail of taunting giggles left behind to echo.
"Good morno, brono!" You hollered while hurling your ass on the couch, a loud poof! squeezed out from the cushion underneath when you made contact.
Tabito didn't shift his gaze away from the TV, just kept flipping through the channels, unnervingly expressionless.
Instead of asking what was wrong like a normal person, you decided to piss him off until he broke. So, you scooted closer and stared at him for a solid minute.
"It's Saturday, my dude... We are free from the government assigned educational prison!"
"...Turn that frown upside down!"
"Brody, brohamian rhapsody, broby dick, bruddy... SON!!"
Not even an eye twitch. Time to pull out the big guns.
You leaned forward and pretended to stretch your arm, all to rest it behind him on the back cushion, cosplaying a cliche boyfriend at the theater with his first date.
"I'm gonna send the tickle monster after your ass if you don't speaketh to thine hastily..." You whispered in his ear threateningly.
Finally, that broke him enough to at least side-eye you. That's progress! Joy!!
"Stare at me like that any longer and I'll flood the room, no hesitationâ"
"Enough..." He sighed, pinching the tall bridge of his nose whilst screwing his eyes shut.
Seizing the opportunity, you reached out to languidly curl a lock of his raven hair around your finger.
"C'mooon~ Tell me what's wrong so I can go back to bullying you without feeling bad."
He put a hand to your forehead at that, gently pushing your face away and remarking, "Ya don't seem t'feel bad now."
"You're going to receive an atrocious swirly at 3:24pm."
He rolled his eyes, lips quirking slightly in amusement.
For a brief moment, his eyes fixed on something at a distance you couldn't see. It was as if his mind had been swept away from the present entirely, an unknown force launching him back to a different time.
Had the great Tabito Karasu just faltered? GENUINELY??
Even you could see it, but the second you did, he drifted back to you with his normal cocky smirk.
"In yer dreams." He deflected.
"In yer dreams, hurr durr!" You mocked.
Scoffing, he turned away. "How childish..." He muttered at a volume too loud to have been an accident, only for you to echo a second time at a higher pitch.
He finally questioned, "Ya seriously don't have better comebacks for that?"
Once you repeated him again, he cut you off by putting you in a playful headlock and ruffling your hair into a mess.
"Got anything ta say now, bed head?" He laughed.
You tried retaliating the best to your ability by kicking and squirming roughly, but soon realized that sloppy strategy was futile. Instead, you hooked your arm underneath his knee and flipped him onto his back.
An indignant squawk was squeezed out of him when you rolled your bodies off the couch and used the newly gained leverage to maneuver his body underneath yours in a way that gave you full dominance.
Catching your breath for a minute, you reflected on your eluded tactic and mentally jotted it down for future uses, then looked down at him with the most smug smirk a smirk could smugly smirk.
After announcing that through breathless laughter, you got up and sauntered over to the kitchen for a snack.
He was absolutely afraid, but...
He loved you. He truly realized that when he stared helplessly into your eyes and enjoyed feeling drowned in them. He didn't care that his lungs were filling up too much to breathe any time you were close enough to hold. All he saw was you.
He was afraid, but he wanted to try for you. He needed to try for you.
In all truth, you weren't really peckish in the moment you excused, you just desperately needed a second to yourself to rein in your thoughts gone wildâ a vital requirement for your head not to explode, like a watermelon strangled by rubber bands.
The final phase: Exploit any and ALL discovered weaknesses in order to deliver unrecoverable counterattacks.
You did it. You achieved your impossible goal!
So, why did you feel a weird thump in your chest when you looked down at Tabito? THE Tabito Karasu, for Christ sake! No way in hell should you catch feelings for that annoying bastard.
"I mean, he was kinda handsome like that. I won't lie there." You gave credit where it's due. You despised the guy, but you refused to be a cringe ass Tsundre about it.
Maybe you should shoot your shotâ
"Noooo! That means I'll have to fold and admit it..." You shook out the thought, and snatched a bag of spicy chips. Hopefully the sheer pain of the spice level would burn any consideration of *shiver* l-l-l-l-l-l-l-love...
Munching on a handful of chips, your gaze practically burned a hole through the object of your mindless attention. You remained there, before coming to a conclusion.
"I'm definitely beating his ass one day."
Author's note: THIS WAS MEANT TO ONLY BE SILLINESS, CHATILLAC đđĽđĽ Also, mb for posting this kinda late, I wanted to make sure the quality was as good as it could be for 4am drabbles. Hope you enjoyed this! This was also my first time writing a kiss scene lolll đŤ
