The amazing timey-wimey doctor
As she lay there on the ground bleeding out, Sora considered the events that had brought her to this end. It wasnât all too complicated, really. Days had passed and still the war between the cities raged on, with twists and turns that were too difficult for her to keep track of.
Far wiser it would have been for her to stay put in a safe zone, but seeing the wounded that were brought in each day, Sora had found herself unable to remain oblivious, and with her habit of sticking her nose into things rearing its head, the bright young girl had soon headed to the streets, remaining wisely hidden and trying to use her acrobatic skill to help bring as many as she could to safety.
It had been a simple enough plan, but that had gone to pieces at the sight of a soldier encroaching upon a small girl, flicking out a long and dangerous looking blade with jagged edges with a cruel smirk upon his face.
All thoughts of her own well being had fled then, as they might have at any earlier time had she not been lucky enough not to face such a situation directly.
Rushing forth, she successfully managed to disarm the soldier by delivering a kick to his wrist with an agile backflip, dodging his attempts to grab at her without much difficulty. Scooping the girl into her arms and breaking into a run, Sora would have been successful too, had it not been for the second and third soldiers simultaneously firing shots at her. Twisting her body to take a bullet that would have hit the girl, pain shot through her right shoulder as the bullet plunged through flesh.
Setting the girl down and positioning herself to block her from the soldiers, a last bid effort was made to save a life, telling her to run, and then she had lunged for the soldiers to attempt to knock them to the ground. She was not expecting to win, but at that moment, that had been the best she could think of to distract them.
The rest had been a blur, and now she lay bleeding from several different bullet and stab wounds as the soldiers stood sneering above her.
Sora really felt then how hot blood could be, as if seeping all the heat from her body as she grew colder with each passing moment. Tears squeezed out the corners of her eye, not from regret for had she the chance to do this all over, she would have done the same. But death was inevitably terrifying, and her tears came from an indescribable sadness at the thought of not being able to laugh with her friends any more.
