Routines were very important to one Dr. Jane Foster. They were what made her world go round. Almost every single day was the same. Here’s what it was: 

7:00 a.m.: wake up. make a toasted pastry or toast with jam. have orange juice. Review over last night’s notes. 

8:00 a.m.: greet Darcy, who moaned about waking up early. Remind her to start the coffee pot. 

9:00 a.m.-3:00 (or 4:00): science time. Maybe some lunchtime, she wasn’t sure yet. 

6:45 p.m.: Dinner. Either an abominable show in the kitchen or takeout. 

And that’s all it is. Day after day. 

Until Darcy forces her to sign up for a science conference. 

“I don’t want to be here,” she hisses. Darcy rolls her eyes, straightening out her shirt. 

“You’ll be fine. Go meet other hot science ladies and mingle. I know you can do it! I think you can do it. You really only mingle with Erik and I, and neither of us are very keen on wearing pants.” 

“I meant to talk to you about that--” 

“Nope! Go mingle!” 

Jane is pushed into a world where her routine does not matter. So she drifts to the appetizer table. No one seems to notice that she’s on her seventh cheese-and-cracker in about two minutes. 

Sif does notice Dr. Foster. She’s quite familiar with her work, because she also works with concepts like the Einstein-Rosen bridge and interdimensional travel theory. 

Jane Foster also happens to be Sif’s type. 

Dr. Foster meets Sif with half a cocktail-weenie digested, and she nearly chokes on the other half meeting the statuesque woman. 

“Holy--” 

“I’m honored to meet you!” Sif says brightly, sticking out her hand. “I’m Sif, I wrote a--” 

“You wrote the best goddamn paper I’ll ever read!” Jane interrupts. “Just holy shit you made everything sound amazing! I couldn’t believe it when I got to page eighty-two and I thought I had just gotten to page twenty!” 

Darcy overhears this. She is glad that she was studying humanities, because they would only make her read more than forty pages if it was about Shakespeare or someone of more importance, like Britney Spears. 

But she’s glad that she’s done her job and gotten Jane out there into the world. 

So...Jane’s routine gets a little altered. 

After all, Sif wakes up earlier to go on a run, but she also makes breakfast. So Jane adjusts breakfast to be at 7:30. 

She also cooks with Jane for dinner, so that gets moved a bit earlier. 

Some say horsemen, some say warriors,

Some say a fleet of ships is the loveliest

Dear anon, please never apologise for asking me stuff, I love getting asks!

I'm a huge Sif/Jane shipper actually! I wish we'd seen them interact more in the movies. I would've loved to see Sif slowly warm up to Jane and eventually develop feelings for her. And Jane would maybe find Sif intimidating in the beginning, but would grow to admire her. And in this scenario she totally would be attracted to Sif from the start. And let's be real, they would be so hot together!
