With the rise of modern technology, employers of all kinds competed to increase production rates. AI alone wasn't enough, and neither were humans, so they had to combine the two.

The leader of a company called Human Resources (HR) sought volunteers to undergo an objectification process in which they would become cyborg drones (code: Trophy men), ready to be sold to companies that demanded them. The volunteers signed the contracts but didn't read the fine print: the loss of their free will. One fresh specimen is Employee 135, standing readily on display to be examined by the boss of a private company. Employee 135's thought patterns have been reduced to robotic commands:
