Jalec in every episode: You Are Not Your Own (2x12)
I didn’t actually do this last week cause I was busy giffing Jalec but here’s my random thoughts on 2x12.
I liked this episode a lot. I wouldn’t rate it quite as high as 2x11, cause that one was just FABULOUS, but it was definitely a solid episode. So far, 2b is certainly looking better than 2a as a whole. Once again, like in 2x11, mostly stuff I enjoyed and not much of the stuff I don’t like / don’t care about.
Highlights for me:
Harry & Alan’s performances playing each others’ characters - fabulous
Badass!Alec killing (banishing, whatever) a greater demon JUST LIKE THAT
Sebastian. Fuck he’s good.
And my personal favourite: The very last minute, because reasons.
Random bits and pieces in no particular order:
Say what you will about Valentine but he’s got balls, talking to a greater demon like that. That man does not take shit from anybody.
Can anyone explain to me why all the blame for Azazel is being put on Jace? They summoned him to find Izzy? All of them, together? So WTF?
Not to be that person but that CIace training scene had NOTHING on the Jalec one from last week. When I saw the sneaks, I thought there would be way more chemistry and tension (not being hateful, just saying how I personally felt about it when watching. I was disappointed with that scene.). Now imagine what kind of show we’d have if they stopped trying to forcefully push tension and just went with the one that’s naturally there? *le sigh*
CIizzy hug <333
The S/zzy was kind of cute but I just don’t CARE about them as a couple. *sigh* It was nice to see Izzy being more herself again though.
I’ve already listed him in the highlights but yeah, Sebastian. I can feel myself falling for the character even though I know who he really is and what he’s about to do, which means they’re doing this EXACTLY right. WiIl Tudor is so damn perfect for this part. I can’t wait until all hell breaks loose.
That scene where he was edging Clary on to draw that rune of hers was awesome (also nobody can tell me that he wasn’t actually talking about himself and what he was feeling like when he said those things to her)
Also, dammit but Clebastian is kind of adorable. Again, DESPITE me knowing what’s going to happen. Which I think is exactly what Sebastian is going for, so kudos.
Another episode with more than one Jalec scene - careful show, I might get used to this. LOL
Finally, the best of all for me: Jace. Just everything Jace. I mean he is back in Valentine’s hands AGAIN – the man who tortured him not long ago – and the first thing he does is apologise to Alec? My heart. Jace Wayland Herondale is too fucking good for this world, and he deserves the world.
That last minute was EVERYTHING. Cause Imogen is right, he’s had everything taken away from him and now he finally got something back. I didn’t think I’d be so emotional about this but the show did it so well. I just love Jace so damn much. (And dammit I’m going to have to go back and change all my tags now don’t I.)
Things I didn’t like:
Not really much, I just wish they hadn’t killed off Azazel so quickly (even though I totally dig badass!Alec). He could have been an amazing adversary.
All in all, as I said, a very solid episode and I’m looking forward to the next ones.
