Being stuck in a wheelchair has lots of downsides.
You could stay with that one simple sentence, but you have to acknowledgeâeven if it doesnât feel rightâit has some upsides too. There arenât many of these "up moments," and when they do occur, they wonât make you feel good about your condition, but they happen only on rare occasions.
Personally, you donât really care about the upsides. They wonât change your life for the better by any means; they just pretend to make your life a tad bit easier while pissing off some morons who think life on a wheelchair is so easy.
That just makes you feel bad about the upsides you should feel good aboutâŚ
But you had to admit there was one moment where you felt kind of privileged, and you enjoyed it every single time; even if it made you feel shy. Will you ever admit it? No, because your boyfriend already teases you enough, and you donât want him to have more ammo against you.
"The heater is on, and I have everything prepared." Your boyfriend returned from the bathroom, stopping right in front of you. "Ready to feel like a new person?" He grinned at you.
"Well, yeah." You nodded. "Iâm just not ready to feel like an icicle." You added, making Keeho chuckle.
"I promise it will be over soon." He said, moving behind you, and releasing the brakes on your mobile commode. "Iâll try to be quick, but thorough. As always." He gave you a small peck on your temple before pulling you on the chair backwards to the bathroom.
Because you couldnât move your legs, when they got in the way of the wheels, you couldnât do anything about it. Or they might get trapped under the chair, causing you to tumble out and land face-firstâthat almost happened one time, and it wasnât the best feeling. Thatâs why moving the chair backwards was much more convenient for you than if Keeho had been pushing it in front of him.
Once you were inside the bathroom, Keeho stopped for a moment to close the door and then moved you closer to the showerhead. He locked the mobile commode in place and stood in front of you.
"Can I?" he asked, already reaching for the hem of your shirt. It was the last piece of clothing that was preventing you from having a proper shower.
You were already sitting on the chair with your bottom naked, because taking off your pants and underwear together was much easier to do on the bed. Keeho always said he is strong enough to do it while youâre sitting, but you felt bad and worried he would strain himself. He already has to do a lot of physical work around and with you, so if you can spare him from at least one strenuous act, thatâs great.
Keeho helped you out of your shirt, throwing it somewhere behind him without a care. Immediately, the cold air hit your now fully nude form, making you shiverâjust a step away from becoming an icicle.
Who thought that having the bathroom covered in tiles from top to bottom was a good idea? It makes the space even colder than it has to be.
"Just a moment." Said Keeho, showerhead already in his hand while adjusting the right temperature. "Okay, tell me how it is?" He directed the showerhead onto your arm so you could test the water yourself.
"Thatâs perfect." You answered, enjoying the fleeting moment of warmth, because Keeho stepped behind you, moving the showerhead away from your arm.
Every time it was your shower day, Keeho always started with your hair. You requested it because you wanted to wash your hair twice, and you were sure that if you had already gotten your body wet and washed, you would end up freezing; you were convinced of that.
Because you were cold even with this small precautionâyes, not even a heater could save you in the tiled prisonâKeeho left the showerhead in your lap in between each wash. It helped a little, but goosebumps already covered your body.
After your hair was done, it was time to wash the rest of your freezing body and warm it up. You silently watched Keeho squeeze a generous amount of shower gel onto a sponge, and then soak it with water; the scent of strawberries enveloped you both instantly.
Unfortunately, this was when you lost access to warm water and had no choice but to endure the coldness.
Keeho quickly ran the showerhead over your body before turning it off and putting it aside. Right after that, he scrubbed your body with the rough side of the spongeâof course, asking you first if that side is okay.
Since all the work is on your boyfriend, your mind drifted away while he attended to you and your needs. It was like that all the time on your shower day; comfortable silence with bonding that neither of you thought could get more profound between the two of you.
"Wait." You stopped Keeho when he gently grabbed you by the shoulders so he could lean your body against his and wash your back. "Put a towel over your chest otherwise your shirt is going to get wet."
"Oh, youâre right." He said, letting go of your shoulders. Leaving the sponge on your lap, he stepped back so he could easily reach for a towel.
Instead of taking a dry towel, he grabbed the hem of his shirt and pulled it up over his head, throwing it alongside your shirt. You could immediately feel the heat rushing into your cheeks.
"I told you to use a towel." You mumbled shyly. Seeing Keeho without a shirt wasnât anything newâhe is your boyfriend after allâbut it wasnât happening that often, so when it did, you were flustered. "You didnât have to⌠take your shirt off completely."
"Am I making you nervous, Y/N?" he asked, and you could hear the teasing tone in his voice clear as day. "Hey, you had a good point there." He leaned closer to you, his hands resting on the armrests on both sides of the chair. "I donât want to get my shirt wet."
"Yeah." You playfully rolled your eyes. "Iâm so glad you listen to me. Right now, of all times." If you could, your arms would be folded over your chest by now; damn your disability.
"Youâre welcome." He had that stupid smirk that you loved so muchâyou cannot let him know that. "Câmon," he gave you a quick peck on your lips before straightening himself. "Letâs finish with the shower. I can see your legs turning purple already." With that, Keeho returned to his task and washed your back.
Yeah, most of the "up moments" do suck in your eyes, but this is the one that feels special to you. And you know itâs because of the warm blanket he wraps around you after he is done, and the gentle kiss on the forehead he gives you after.
Itâs because of your amazing boyfriend, who treats you like a normal human being even with all your limitations.
Itâs thanks to your Keeho.
