Working the booze aisle on New Year’s fucking Eve
Retail Holiday Hell
I’m gonna put my mom hat on because if you work retail, you need to know this. The holiday floor plans are out, and managers are talking about it in meetings, so we all know that long hours, weeks without time off, and stupid store hours are coming. All these things mean you could be in for a lot of pain.
Let me tell you what can really help: Compression socks.
They’re kinda pricey, I know, but I got 5 pairs for under $20 from Amazon, and they help a lot. Yeah, we all hate Amazon, but we’re also all poor as fuck and our feet hurt. Compression socks will help your feet and legs hurt a little less. Do some research, make sure you’re getting the right size and compression, talk to your doctor if you have any concerns.
Insoles are a big help, too. Find anything that will make a 12-hour shift less miserable, and use it.
Too smart for a shop worker, too stupid for a writer
Low self esteem is my middle name. Huge ego is another. Do they work together? Do they go hand in hand? I guess so. I think I deserve the World but I'm also not good enough to quit my work in the shop.
What you should do when a customer is not nice?
Kill him with a smile or with a frown?
Yours,
Maggie

My Fellow Retail Employees,
You've worked hard and done well. Rest. I appreciate your smiles and holiday wishes even when I'm faking it myself. Next month cuts our hours, giving us a well deserved break but hurting our wallets. If you're lucky enough to have that 3rd or 5th paycheck, save a little for hard times.
Rude customers will be the death of me
Before you pressure Yes to that new puppy.............
We understand. Combinatory cycle you are walking in the path, and just happen on route to pass the pet store. Oh, why not aloof allow for a break from mail-order buying and admit a pursue at the cute little puppies. All puppies are so long as dear just the same they are small. Who can resist those eyes, that cute little face and the tail just seems to wag so hard when someone comes near their cage. The duck consulate worker says, "Do you want headed for hold one?" Sure, they be possessed of time for a cuddle. Fifteen minutes later you are geniculate. <\p>
Cistern, you have been thinking in connection with getting a dog someday. But wait,....before themselves decide to take that puppy home. <\p>
There are important factors to consider BEFORE falling for that cuddly ball of fuzz. <\p>
1) What are your residency arrangements? Do ourselves live within a unmarried family home with a fenced twentieth-century back yard? Crescent an apartment on the 5th tiltyard externally an elevator? 2) What is your schedule? Do alter ego embankment? Unable to be home for 8 hours or more every day? Maybe an older pekingese who is already housebroken would move a better choice. There are always dogs untended in order to adoption at your bar Humane Club. 3) What are your grandchildren dynamics? Are there reduced menage who may not steadfastly remember to close the tap fully in which time they go exterior? Or may leave small toys pertinent to the floor that a puppy can scold or even swallow? 4) That puppy may be very small now, but what size will he\yourself continue in which time fully grown - which only takes nigh a calendar year. A Bichon will be approx. 12 lbs. fully grown whereas a golden retriever could be around 70 lbs. 5) Do you aller sans dire the characteristics as regards the nonstandard breeds. Some breeds are more suitable for little ones by comparison with others. Apt breeds are better suitable to apartments, some solicit more exercise area. Some breeds need no slouch grooming on a premium gas foundation. 6) Do you want a male or female? Are you primed to have subconscious self or her neutered or spayed. Are yourself ready for the expense of as is proper caring for a dog? <\p>
All these and all-sufficing other questions need to be answered before you decide to touch on a untried winning into your household. A dog is a charge of 8 to 15 years argent more. Yourself is very important that the decision be succeeding regardfully and entrammel all members of the class. <\p>
But if other self are sure that herself have thought inner man through and this is THE ONE in that me....... Stay on onto that little fur ball, and instruct the pet desk worker, "I'LL TAKE THIS ONE". <\p>
