Before the war, I think he'd be extremely arrogant, as he was chosen by the Inquisition to be the lead torturer scientist for them. He doesn't like the Inquisition one bit but they give him all of what he needs for his experiments and tests, so he doesn't care.

I took inspiration from TFP and Energon for his design, as Energon Shockblast has that green with the purple and I love it.

I really dislike the notion that he has no emotions. So instead, I choose to make him really complicated. How am I gonna do that? I have yet to decide lol

His voice claim is The Hunter from Starfield :D

I’m back; four years later, with an updated ranking! This will be featuring new versions and/or variants, including Longarm Prime, SG Shockwave, and senator Shockwave. Please note that all Shockwaves are loved by me. Except Shockblast. Nobody likes Shockblast.

Shockblast; Transformers Energon

Rating: 0/10

Reasoning: Unfortunately he has made his way to last place once again. I just don’t like him. He’s impulsive and aggressive and that’s not what I think of when I see Shockwave. Sorry Shockblast, I’m not letting you take me anywhere.

Number 14.

Shockwave; Bayverse DotM

Rating: 2/10

Reasoning: Ok I honestly LOVE the design but hated how he was portrayed in the movie. They were SO lazy with him. This is Shockwave ffs, why does he only have like 3 lines and 7 minutes of screen time. I think in the long run, yes, I’d go on a date with him but the execution of him was awful, it’s not his fault.

Number 13.

Shockwave; IDW

Rating: 3/10

Explanation: What a cool design. Almost every version of Shockwave has an amazing design, he’s just so badass. But the reason he is so low is because he’s utterly terrifying. The war crimes he had could take hours to go through, not to mention the whole time travel thing. Beautiful design, but easily one of the most gruesome and terrifying versions of this character. I wouldn’t survive the date.

Number 12.

Senator Shockwave IDW

Rating: 5/10

Explanation: What a great origin and a sickening downfall. It’s hard to believe this is the same bot as the previous ranking. Now, I really like him but he is low on the list simply because I’m so used to the cold, logical Shockwave, I wouldn’t even know how to react to him. One date but I think it would be awkward for me, I know he would be a total sweetheart though.

Number 11.

Shockwave; Knightverse

Ranking: 5/10

Explanation: We only got less than a minute of screen time with him, but they really kinda stayed true to his G1 design. The thighs…holy hell. That was a deliberate choice. I can only really base it off of looks; when this list is based off of personality, so he has a sorta low score for that reason. It’s clear he is a powerful character, and commands respect. I’d probably go on a date with him, but I need to get a stronger grasp of his personality.

Number 10.

Shockwave; FoC

Rating: 5.5/10

Explanation: The design is outstanding, you’ll be hearing that a lot today. But, while I think Steve Blum is a FANTASTIC voice actor, I just don’t necessarily think it fits Shockwave. I don’t have much to say about this character, as I can’t play FoC, but I’ve seen lots of gameplay online. Yes, I’d go on a date with him, maybe two.

Number 9.

SG Shockwave

Rating: 6/10

Explanation: Now, hold on. I LIKE THIS ONE. I know there are a lot of people out there who utterly hate the color pallet, and I’d much prefer SG TFA Shockwave but I can’t pick favorites. I kinda like the colors, and I’m actively hunting his toy. He is so sweet, and I love reading anything on him. Yes. I’d go on a date. Probably a couple.

Number 8.

Shockwave; Earthsparks

Rating: 6/10

Explanation: Ok, I actually love the design, it’s basic in all the right ways, and the eye is honestly amazing. It’s this point in the post where everyone else on the list is an automatic yes to a date. I’ve seen people have mixed feelings about his eye and how it moves but I personally LOVE it. It’s creepy in all the right ways. Also, let’s address the elephant in the room, he sounds like a Dalek from Dr. Who. It’s not bad but I don’t think it necessarily fits him. Yeah, I’d go on a date with him; actually, I’d go on a few.

Number 7.

Shockwave; WFC

Rating: 6.5/10

Explanation: I keep rambling about designs and unfortunately I will be bringing it up in each one. It’s great. Like G1 but more modern and it’s amazing. The little tiny detail too, it’s all just amazing. And the voice? Outstanding, and fits. I enjoy the fact that he actively has anger issues in the show and it brings out a more “human” aspect of him. Yeah, let’s go on a date. 

Number 6.

Shockwave; TFO

Rating: 7/10

Explanation: OH THE COLORS. Transformers One was a masterpiece, I don’t CARE what anyone says. I loved it and Shockwave’s and Soundwave’s designs were so incredibly good. I’m aware this was before his emotions were deleted so I judged accordingly. He’s great, and a good comedic relief in the film. Yes. I’d love if he took me on a date.

Number 5.

Shockwave; G1

Rating: 8/10

Explanation: Holy sweet mother of tits. It’s him. The mech that started it all. I was roughly like- 6 when I watched G1 and Shockwave was my first favorite character of any franchise. I love this bot to death and I’m getting a tattoo of him soon to match my Soundwave one. Yeah. We are going on a date. Try and stop me.

Number 4.

Shockwave; Cyberverse

Rating: 9/10

Explanation: Hey. Calm down. I know I put him over G1 but let me explain. What pushes him into the top four is his alt-mode. A spider tank that’s actually a spider? Oh my god ITS ADORABLE! I literally love it so much, let’s go on a date. Now, please.

Number 3.

Shockwave; TFP

Ranking: 9.5/10

Explanation: Last time, TFP Shockwave took home the crown and was my #1 favorite bot. He has unfortunately dropped two ranks, and it’s not against him; it’s just that the other two I appeal to more. David’s voice for Shockwave is absolutely perfect, dare I say I like it better than Corey Burton. This version of shockwave shows quite a lot of emotions and has an ungodly amount of restraint to the stupidity around him and I applaud him for that. And the design is amazing, you can really see the raw power this bot is carrying, literally from the first scene you meet him, the wheels moving with each step just really shows you how utterly powerful he is, not just in intelligence but in raw strength. He doesn’t take shit and I love it. This is one of my favorite Shockwaves of all time and it forever will be. Getting a date with this bot would be a true gift.

Number 2.

Longarm Prime; TFA

Ranking: 10/10

Explanation: I was in 4th grade when my English teacher introduced me to Transformers Animated, he knew I had previously watched G1 and he tended to draw Shockwave and Longarm a lot, and when I asked him about it, he sent me home with the entirety of Transformers Animated on DVD. It took me about a month to get through since my attentions span was that of a coconut but Longarm’s reveal as Shockwave was one of the biggest cinematic reveals I’ve seen. Longarm was my ABSOLUTE favorite. I begged my teacher to draw him on my papers when he was grading them. Longarm is very special to me and thanks to a friend of mine, I now own his figure. The color scheme is outstanding, and Corey Burton did such an outstanding job, as he always does. The whole character was written beautifully and I’ve loved him the second he appeared on screen. He would take number one spot if I didn’t feel obligated to put an ACTUAL Shockwave at the top…speaking of…

Number 1.

Shockwave; TFA

Ranking: 10/10

Explanation: Last time I rated him, I got a little inappropriate, I’ll try and tone that down and stay mature. What a bot. The perfect balance of utter stupidity and cold, calculated smarts. He is my absolute favorite, from the aspect of them focusing on him being a spy more so than a scientist, and from the aspect of personality. This bot is the most verbally expressive version of Shockwave (excluding any variations and/or Shockblast. Fuck you Shockblast). Watching him openly laugh at Lugnut and interact with others is just a sight to behold. I also believe he would be one of the most gentle version of him (one again excluding variations). While he has multiple canon deaths (including Beachcomber), he just seems to hold a certain gentleness. Maybe I’m loosing it but he doesn’t seem like a maniac unlike IDW Shockwave. He is my favorite version of Shockwave and quite possibly might be my favorite character of all time. It’s a shame season 4 was cancelled where we would have gotten to see more of him but, I’m very excited to read the TFA Shattered Glass comic coming out soon.
