when writing for my msm ocs I noticed trying to add all of these complex characters into the monster world is weird bc in canon its very. Utopia-esque. Most monsters are happy and get what they want and they all sing forever. there is conflict but there isnt really driving forces to any universal suffering or anything. There are exceptions (minor paironormal, the catyclysm, the fire monsters especially) but for the most part monsters are pretty happy creatures.

This is more so a tangent for myself because I feel very weird writing all of these gijinkas with very complex situations going on that makes them messy and imperfect yet theyre humans that are trying their best to survive in a weird world. Im projecting a lot of problems onto these weird creatures and not particularly focusing on what msm really shines in- its worldbuilding and creative biology. Then again, its entertaining to write singing monsters having these parasocial relationships, unhealthy obsessions etc and remember im writing for a game aimed for kids.

at the same time, all of these weird complexes im projecting into the gijinkas im writing means I have to add a reason for them turning out so messed up, so that means that Id have to write monsters as bad parents. Id imagine that Ive showed that a bit in how ive written my Zarroë- they focus too much on creating more that they forget about what they’ve already achieved, if that makes sense. My workshoppers were isolated so they had to build up a sense of what normal society wants them to act with 0 guidance from anyone who’s grown up in the usual monster society. Its a weird thing to think about.

at least with that I have Zarroë as a reason. Will I have to write about the political struggles of the monster world just to have my gijinkas make sense? Im really sleepy snd I think I’m just losing my mind.
