Just a funny little thing I dug out by accident yesterday in terms of... Digimon Adventure ship teasing.
First of all, I found a YT channel that has all three "Digimon Adventure Character Song + Mini Drama CDs" sorted into neat playlists, which is a great resource in itself!
Digimon Adventure: Character Song + Mini Drama 1 (feat. Taichi, Sora & Jyou, published November 5th 1999) - Onkei Translation
Digimon Adventure Character Song + Mini Drama 2 (feat. Koushirou, Mimi & Hikari, published December 3rd 1999) - Onkei Translation
Digimon Adventure Character Song + Mini Drama 3 (feat. Yamato & Takeru, published January 7th 2000) - Onkei Translation
The character songs are really endearing - and handled very differently too. Taichi's song is the only one the audience hears IN the TV series; Sora's and Mimi's (and kiiiinda Hikari's) songs can be heard as background music in a lot of scenes they are in (and Sora's song was even played DURING "To Sora"); Yamato's song is a pop version of his harmonica tune; Jyou, Koushirou and Takeru got entirely original songs that are never heard in the TV series. The translations can be found on TheDigiLab too.
The dramas are rather comedic and feature a TON of fourth-wall breaking, inside jokes and pop-culture references, so if you're not Japanese, you may not be able to grasp everything upon hearing/reading these for the first time. The characters are also rather snarky towards each other and make some interesting meta-jokes that may or may not have been picked up by the creators while stumbling over comments/fan letters/the general perception of the series and characters.
What I found interesting was that I was CONVINCED these dramas came out AFTER Adventure had already aired, but all of these were published DURING Adventure's original run time. For example - the first drama CD came out (November 5th 1999) RIGHT after Hikari was officially revealed to be the 8th Child (October 31st 1999).
... Which leads to speculation as to why Tailmon wasn't on the cover of the drama, even though Hikari was. It's absolutely possible that when that art was commissioned, Tailmon wasn't even chosen as official partner for Hikari yet - and I'll definitely want to look for sources about that.
The second drama is even more interesting - especially when you consider it while taking the first drama into account. At the end of the first drama, the following dialogue occurs:
Again, at this point in time, Hikari was BARELY revealed yet, thus she hadn't interacted much or at all with ANY of the other Chosen Children ASIDE from her brother.
Koushirou and Mimi being teased here is absolutely no surprise, as they had been pretty popular as a ship from the start (and most likely fueled by their interactions in episode 10 - which had aired on May 9th 1999, so people definitely had months to get used to and hyped about them). However... Hikari had absolutely not been part of the equation yet. So they may ACTIVELY have speculated on the possibility of not only teasing their audience about one of their most popular ships (= Koumi, "who have gotten a lot of fan requests") and a POTENTIAL rival ship (= Koukari) that didn't have ANY LEG TO STAND ON at this point whatsoever.
Again, all the dramas have to be taken with a grain of salt and the infamous "love letter drama" is incredibly meta - still, it's impossible for me to believe that they didn't take note of how shipping was perceived among fans and that's why they chose to make a love triangle a central topic of an audio drama. Because... Of course this stuff would generate attention. Again, finding sources on this is tough and the subtext of the drama leaves a lot of room for speculation IN GENERAL, but... I cannot help but think that members of the production team may just have hoped for Koukari to actually have a basis in the ongoing series (and they kiiiiinda do, but only if you squint) and that's why they came up with this idea. It was only teased VERY lightly btw, but it was at least implied (on Mimi's behalf).
The drama itself was published on December 3rd 1999 and thus in the middle of the VenomVamdemon arc...
... So the only semi-real interaction between Koushirou and Hikari at this point was him telling AtlurKabuterimon to save her (which is also an ongoing theme between him and her - and Mimi too).
Long story short, EVERYTHING is to be taken with a grain of salt and it's also possible it was all just a lot of ado about nothing.
However, if you haven't listened to the love letter drama yet, please do, because it's hilarious, silly and adorable.

You summed up pretty much exactly how I feel about those ships
This one's certainly not nearly as popular as others, but of curiosity, how would you feel about grimm/shadelord?
Specifically based on interpretations of the shade lord being an ancient entity completely separated from Ghost
OH boi
so the fun thing about the Shadelord is that there is so little information about them that any sort of personality trait or history you assign to them is based off of pure speculation.Ā
So Shadelord is basically aĀ ābuild-your-own-eldritch-godā
Are they malevolent? Benevolent? Do they prefer to remain dormant in the abyss or are they a plague on the land around them? We donāt have concrete facts but who cares lets mold them into whatever fits the narrative!
We do know, however, that they are consideredĀ āthe god of godsā via the godseekers so they are on a completely different level than Pale King, Radiance, Grimm and all the others. Shadelord could wreck anyoneās day with ease and tbh thats scary for everyone involved.
So my interpretation of grimm/shadelord would be: Grimm keeping his cool whenever in the presence of Shadelord and then when he says goodbye andĀ walks around a corner he leans against a wall and wheezesĀ HOLY SHIT THAT WAS TERRIFYING HOW DID I NOT DIE. Grimm would literally be dancing with death. I think Grimm would want to minimize contact with the Shade Lord as much as possible unless it was absolutely necessary for him to approach them.
Edit: After posting this I realized thatĀ āDancing with Deathā is a good metaphor for this ship. Like if we go with a troupe/circus thing, the Shadelord would be a lion and Grimm would be the performer in the ring with them. The lion is an active threat to the performer, but as long as he keeps his wits about him he can guide the lion to do what he wants.
so is pk/grimm the new otp akdjd it's fine if it is I just want to know whether hollow/grimm is ever happening again
Itās looking to be that way for now until I start craving some good slow burn hurt comfort. I currently want something from PK/Grimm that Hollow/Grimm canāt give me without massive mischaracterization or uncomfortable situations (the ability to enthusiastically provide consent but also withdraw consent.)
I donāt wanna jump ahead in the future to get to that point where Hollow can provide and withdraw consent freely with their own will, cause iād miss so many great moments taken to build that ability. Also iām not talking about sex stuff iām just talking about the basic ability to say no. Before you can get that ability to say no you have to have an opinion on what to say no to and to be able to have opinions can only happen if you let them form and so on. Itās like a ladder!
So for right now iām riding the pk/grimm train because I currently want two characters with strong wants and needs without forcing it, but I havenāt abandoned Hollow/Grimm yet.
Want do you think of grumm? I personally think that it is cute, but if you donāt like it that is ok.
Iāve already answered this here!
But i am a big fan of every flavor of pining from these two. Mutual pining. Brumm pining. Grimm pining. Flirting in the work place and brushing things off as an act but later being like unless...?Ā
How do you feel about Grimm/ghost? A lot of people seem to not like it even though they like hollow/Grimm, which is weird since they are functionally the same age

What about grimm x hornet?? I really like them because this French (???) person made a thread on them plus... Bastard Cat energy meets Angry Mean Spider would be chaos https://twitter.com/hakunoknight/status/1308800269472403460?s=19
š¤ I gave this the same amount of consideration I did with Grimm/Brumm to see if I could find an angle to invest myself in it and unfortunately I couldnāt find one. Iām sorry! I have my reasonings below under the read more bc it turned into a mini essay, but you donāt gotta read it
My first issue is the lack of any draw I see between Grimm and Hornet. I read through that twitter thread and they did have a point about Hornet probably being aware of Grimmās Troupe and Grimm being able to see Hornet via his godly eyesight, but I donāt think they would mix well at all.
The other ships have some sort of mutual draw:
Brumm/Grimm: both a part of the troupe. In canon interactions. Brumm wonders if Grimm is a slave to the ritual which leads to a lot of speculation of their relationship and can also dip into heavy pining territory which I love.
Pure Vessel/Grimm: Grimm is (speculatively) the brother to the Radiance based off of their domains of dream and nightmares. PV was made to contain the Radiance and became a shell of what they once were. Since Grimm is experienced as a Vessel and PV was forced into it there is a draw of curiosity but also perhaps pity. There are so many hurt/comfort opportunities between these two.
Pale King/Grimm: Pale King is a ruler of a kingdom. Grimm represents the end of kingdoms. These two are both well versed in the ways of proper etiquette so outright showing how they would feel about each other would be smothered under thousands of layers of arbitrary rules. Which is why Grimm is likeĀ ānah fuck that.ā They just have a great dynamic and lowkey mutual respect for each other as higher beings. The Pale King has the power to rid himself of Grimm if he wanted and because he hasnāt it says a lot of things to Grimm.
now with Hornet and Grimm I canāt see them being comfortable around each other at all. I think Grimm would at most consider her a viable dancer but not as great as the little Knight is. There is little about Hornet that would automatically earn Grimmās respect and interest (Brumm is a member of his Troupe, PK is a god, PV was a failed vessel for the Radiance). Hornet on the other hand has been alone the majority of her life, traversing Hollownest and dunking on motherfuckers who try to make things worse than they already are. Hornet knows her strength (ex: holding off on entering the Black Egg until the right moment) and she would not march up to the Troupe and challenge Grimm unless she had the power to. If Grimmās Troupe was a threat I think Hornet would be able to take down the troupe members, but would never confront Grimm himself.
The second issue is that living a life of solitude where you can only rely on yourself really messes a person up. Hornet hates being vulnerable and even more being seen vulnerable (ex: the encounter you have with her after killing Herrah), so she would never let her guard down for, not just Grimm, but for anyone.. Even with Lace/Hornet I canāt see it beyond an intense rivalry with their needles at each otherās throats and both constantly trying to one-up the other.
So I think itās more about how Hornet is not the type of personality to get into the sort of relationship I vibe with. I think Grimmās whole aesthetic would just stress her out and I donāt think Grimm would ever view her more than in a neutral light. Sure sheās a spunky little demi-god with huffy issues like her dad, but her huffiness is more centered in deep unresolved trauma than optional courtly guidelines and thatās no fun to tease with.
But! That doesnāt mean that Grimm/Hornet isnāt feasible! Most of Hollow Knight ships are based off of speculation and inferences of character which lead to so many fun interpretations of what certain relationships could be. I can appreciate people shipping Grimm/Hornet because itās something you can enjoy! Gatekeeping ships in fandoms is shit and youāre allowed to do what you want to do if it makes you happy (as long as it isnāt pedophilic in nature :/). If you have headcanons that make Grimm/Hornet work then go ahead and continue having fun!Ā
Namine was created alongside Roxas while Kairi's heart was inside Sora's. I understand that Roxas looks different than Sora due to Ventus' influence on Sora's heart, but what about Namine? One might think she would like a lot like Kairi, as with most other humanoid Nobodies being nearly identical to their true selves. But Namine seems more petite than Kairi, as well as her noticeable blonde hair to Kairi's reddish brown. I assume this is due to Sora and Kairi's heart being temporarily mixed. Which brings me to my case and point: If Sora and Kairi were to have a daughter in the future, would she grow up to resemble Namine?
(in the Secret Waterway, after retrieving the last navigation-block).
Sora:Finally weāre together again, Kairi. And now itās time to get Riku back.
So several things of note about this scene. 1. Sora clearly states that he believes his connection to Kairi is what saved him from being consumed by darkness. 2. When Kairi asks how they will be able to save Riku when he has already lost his heart, Sora explains that the bond that they share with him will be what pulls Riku out of the darkness. ( Granted I am liberally paraphrasing his speech here. ) 3. Kairi offers to go with Sora to help him save Riku. My shipping goggles may be at work here, (They are kind of fused to my skull at this point, after all.) But at the very least, this scene seems to indicate that both Sora and Kairi care about each other and about Riku very much. As a side note, I donāt remember it being this hard to get new weapons for Donald and Goofy. Sora has about 10 keyblades right now, while Donald and Goofy only have three a piece.
