just saw a tumblr post about how "oh, kris x susie must be these peoples' first time with a one-sided ship" and they went on a whole essay about how "ships dont have to be canon" and "one-sided ships and messy love triangles are cool, actually"
and im sitting here. as a polyamorous guy. waiting for when it's going to be our turn to finally get a fucking INCH of representation somewhere people can't just turn the other cheek to it. because im gonna say it; Love triangles are boring as all shit. They're overplayed and scarcely subverted. Someone allllways has to lose, because muh monogamy!
"Oh, but doomed-" i do not care. i really, really do not care. "doomed relationship as a product of a love triangle" gets boring when you're seeing it for the 500th time. give me something actually interesting for once. give me something new. Give me representation, for crying out loud, we NEVER get any.
hello fellow Tumblr dwellers!
I'm here to say this - I've come to absolutely despise those engagement bait vids on TikTok that go "what's a ship y'all dislike" because every single fucking time it creates a hostile space that always results in unnecessary shipping wars and conflict. And guess what? Queer ships always take the biggest damage!
I interacted ONCE with a post like that, respectfully stating that I don't like a ship but everyone ofc blew it out of proportion (the ship was YaeYato btw, still hate that ship but I won't go out of my fucking way to harass people who ship it, I'm too old for that nonsense.)
I started to block every single account that posts such bs because you can't have a normal conversation with those people, I swear.
What happened to don't like, don't read? What happened to blocking people? What happened to fandom etiquette and basic manners? (I know exactly what, this is a rhetorical question.)
Being a multi shipper on that godforsaken app is not for the weak. Tbh, just being a "weird" fan on that app is detrimental to one's mental health.
Anyway, that is all. I just needed to get this out of my system.
I wish everyone a pleasant day. ^_^
my view on ship discourse
darkship: im uncomfortable around you and you should be criticised if you post it and checked up on either way as this is a bit concerning.
comship: okay idc
lightship: okay idc
proship: I believe in no harassing but just blocking and ignoring the problem isn’t good.
antiship: stop sending death threats
In conclusion I think people should be more worried about darkshippers as in a lot of that experienced stuff and should be helped rather than sent death threats or just blocked and let to ship it. Who cares if someone likes enemies to lovers or something.
Out here thriving as a multishipper while watching The Shipping Wars (dun dun DUNNN)
… I am open to like any ship ever and even if it’s not for me, I just dni ? Idk why that’s so hard…
(the pitt is the worst I’ve seen imo, peep the tagged ships that are constantly at war but I’m just vibing with !eek!)

"If Zutara became canon and you like it, I will assume you're not a real fan"
"Ruin Kataang for whatever that was."
"That's not my Aang" (No, shit Sherlock, it's a remake/live action)
"They ruin (insert scene which, since obviously the events are the same from the OG show, it wouldn't make sense)"
Me, a multishipper, who just saw Taang, Kataang, Zutara, Sokka X Suki, Sokka X Yue and so much other ships getting fed, we got a name drop of Iroh's wife, we see him and Sokka having (realistically) PTSD from what happened to them in war/At the North and so much more:
“but that character has a canon partner!!! but that character wouldn’t like this character!!! but these characters don’t know each other!!!! oc x canon is cringe!!! selfshipping is cringe!!!”
it honestly seems that some people just nitpick reasons to be an asshole to a ship someone enjoys. fiction is meant to be a fantasy where your creativity can thrive and know no bounds. the main point of shipping is to indulge in the end, so you should have the freedom to like whatever you want.
and if you dislike a ship, either block the tag or scroll away. it’s perhaps simply not for you. trust me, I have some strong opinions on some ships, but I’d never harass or threaten anyone who enjoys them.
in all, do what you want, ship those characters, ship that rarepair, ship that crackship, ship your ocs with canon characters, ship yourself, s/i, sona, etc with canon characters, just have fun indulging in the piece of media and its characters.
that’s really the main point of fandom, is it not?
