okay let's stop for a moment cuz this here is so funny on so many levels and a good example of how Kishimoto is trying to drag the blanket to cover up the fucked up shit already introduced in the manga to make a villain out of something or someone when A LOT MORE people are responsible for the evil shit in the shinobi world
for one, the concept of killing emotions is not something really new for the story and for the good guys to reject. in fact, only two arcs ago Kakashi was explicitly quoting shinobi guidelines that stated emotions should be disregarded in face of the mission. those were not some evil ANBU books signed personally by the Source of All Konoha's Evil himself, Danzo, this is Kannabi bridge mission, Kakashi is yet to get involved with that side of Konoha. this was the general philosophy adopted under Hiruzen, but in this conversation Yamato - current member of ANBU btw - is speaking like "oh the horror of killing your own emotions😱😱😱what monster can demand such a thing?!?!?!?!" as if Danzo is the one responsible for spreading such an ideal among Konoha's shinobi - we know for a fact he is not
number two, and oh my god but this remark about the Blood Mist is the funniest fucking thing in the grand scheme of things. as of this point in Shippuden, we really don't know much about what I would call the actors of the shinobi world - or people actively responsible for the decisions that utterly destroy the chances that the continent and the nations on it have for a stable peaceful coexistence as these decisions cascade into horrific consequences for thousands and millions of people. Danzo with what little we know of Root is obviously one of such actors, and it's really hammered down with the Uchiha massacre reveal
so, why is the remark about Blood Mist so funny in the context of actors of shinobi world? well, because it really doesn't bode well for one certain awesome guy's nihilistic slop that he'll be spouting post his unmasking in 600s. Kishimoto, while writing Obito's incredibly deep and thorough musings about the despair of the shinobi world, really didn't want to focus on the actual issues that the guy he was trying to redeem faced (probably because he realized that if the readers were confronted with the evils of the shinobi world from Obito's POV they would quickly realize how much of an actor Obito's character is within confines of the story, so the planned redemption arc would have gone straight into dumpster), so most of the readers' understanding of how totally correct Obito is in his plan to "save" the world comes from what the readers had seen other actors in the story do and the consequences those characters' actions.
The little issue comes when we realize that Kishimoto, in his rush to whitewash Konoha at large and use Danzo as the scapegoat for anything bad Konoha ever did, as well as him shoving Obito's masked mug into every major incident the shinobi world had regardless of how and why "Madara" would have been involved for aura😈 points, ended up narrowing the number of story relevant major actors to two, which are Danzo and "Madara".
this is particularly relevant in this instance with Danzo taking inspiration from Blood Mist. if looking at this within only the current available story, it's actually a pretty good material for Obito's arguments about the horrors and hopelessness of this world: a terrible actor of the shinobi world Danzo looks at the other terrible actor - the Blood Mist and whoever is running it - and uses their inhumane practices on the children of Konoha, thus spreading more misery around. the only problem?
the later reveal that Obito is the actor running the Blood Mist☺️
this obviously doesn't absolve Danzo of the responsibility for his own decisions, but goddamn does it show what an Ouroboros Obito's "redemption" arc is
