My beloved Sea Wees and Shimmers!
As a little girl I was dying for a mermaid doll to play with. As it was the late 70s, there weren't any mermaid dolls. Ariel was 10 years away in the future, though I was very familiar with the story of The Little Mermaid.
Then Kenner released the Sea Wees; cute mermaid dolls meant to be tub toys. Despite the absolutely awful hair and fragile neck connection, I absolutely loved these dolls. I still do!
Featured in the foreground are the Shimmers, which came along in the 80s. These were not bathtub toys, and included other fantasy creatures!
