Shimarin and bonrin are so fun for me in different ways, and the only way I know how to explain it is that: Ryuuji wants to help tame Rinβs demonic side, itβs a feat that is possible, Rin can do it, and as far as Iβm aware in the current progress of the manga, has done it. He takes all of Rinβs strength and power and the risks that come with him being a demon in stride and still sees the boy inside of him to be loved.
But Shima who has hidden his apathy from the world, has expectations and penance forced on him for others decisions (his brother saving him) likes to push Rin. Not in the βdonβt you want to go psycho and burn the world down?β Kind of way because he then would get burned too, but in a dangerous βdonβt you wanna let go just a little bit? Donβt you want to be self indulgent? Donβt you want to stop caring what they all think?β
And itβs dangerous for Rin who always needs to tread this line of demon and human, keeping each side of himself in balance.
TLDR in a way, I can see Bonrin with the happy ending. A good relationship, marriage even, it would take so, so much work from both sides. Compromise and communication and mainly commitment of course. But shimarin I donβt think could ever get there, theyβd burn bright and hot and fast and eventually all there would be is their ashes with no soil to nurture it with.
(Of course that wonβt stop me from writing fluffy aus where they do get a happy ending XD because I am a sucker for love being able to prevail).

Oh my God, oh my God, so one time I read a fic in which rin okumura was the girl from the ring, and shima had given bon the tape and he watched it and was like "whatever I'm not gonna die if I watch a damn video" but then rin came out of the TV and he's like wtf, and tbh I don't remember exact details but they fell in love, and rin had been like cursed or wtv, like stuck inside the well since he was like 8, and it was so good and so perfectly sad and I think of it all the fucking time and that same author did I think a Saw AU as well, but I wasn't interested in that so I didn't read it. The Ring fic, tho was kind of a cliffhanger? Like, it had an ending that concluded the story, but I wanted more, yk? I needed more than what they gave us, but this entire thing is basically irrelevant to this post. I just wanted to talk abt it, LMAO, but I just had a thought, SOMEBODY PLEASE MAKE A LISA FRANKENSTEIN AU WITH BLUE EXORCIST. I don't care who's who but I need it!!! Rin is so Lisa coded, I think, but Rin is a demon, so it'd make sense if he were The Creature (Cole Sprouse's character), right? But in that situation, Bon doesn't really make sense as Lisa because they have totally different personalities. Also, if Rin were the creature, Shima could be Lisa, bc that makes sense, and I loveeee them together as well. Anyways somebody write this plsss,,, I don't even usually like AU fics, but that Ring one was literally incredible it's changed me

Why did you decide to create this?
The main intention is to always have on ongoing, set event that everyone can refer back to and participate year after year, even should this blog's activity decrease. Ideally this will also relieve some of the stress others may feel at the thought of creating new events from scratch, or simply provide an avenue to give spotlight to ships that don't normally receive attention. That being said, everyone is more than free to run separate events during any time slot; I'll be happy to advertise them here should they come up!
What tag can I use to participate?
In addition to the ship tag, you can use the following: #aoexshipweek #aoexshipweek2025, etc. You can also tag the account (@aoex-shipping-events) or send a DM to the account to make sure your entry is reblogged!
What if I want to participate but don't have the time/energy to create something new?
You can submit previously created fanworks! Alternatively, leaving feedback for other creators is a great way to be an active participant in this event, so don't be shy and reblog, leave comments on fics, artworks, etc!
Do I have to participate on every week/month event? Can I focus on platonic dynamics instead? What about polyships?
Do whatever sparks joy, the world is your oyster, there are no limits!
What content will be shared by the account?
This event is accessible to all ages. Any type of media (fic, art, edits, etc.) is accepted, including 18+ content. Just please keep anything spicier under a cut or a link with appropriate content warnings for audience discretion.
Why did you include/not include [insert ship/character]?
The intention was to make sure to cover most of the popular ships (and give love to minor ones too!), while also keeping most months themed to a certain character to allow room for additional ships not included. December, for example, is all about Rin, so although Rin/Godaiin didn't get a dedicated week, feel free to have fun with this pairing anyway throughout the month of December!
