Three illustrations from the Sherwin-Williams advertising booklet "An Ideal Plan of Home Decoration" advertised in Woman's Home Companion magazine, March 1910.
These interiors show strong Craftsman style influence (earth tones, massive square and comparatively simplified architectural features such as the mantel at top and the posts and stair rails at bottom) as well as the white-painted bedroom suite which was extremely popular in this period. All the interiors are decorated in an eclectic romantic style, however, mixing antique styles of different periods, and comparatively cozy or homelike rather than the more formal images that dominate advertisements from the 1920s-30s.

WEDNESDAY’S WEEKLY POETRY PROMPTS: 2/18/26 ~ CLEANERS
CLEANERS ©️ 2026 - G. Smith (BMI) =================== They cleaned me out, Took every last red cent, To this day I wonder, Where the money went. Every last dollar, Every last dime, Every last thing I thought had value, That I thought was mine.
They cleaned my clock, They waxed my behind, And the only good thing is, At least something would shine. They ran me over, Ground pounded me down. As soon as I’d made it to the top, They turned me around.
Try as I might, Can’t get nothing right, Can’t keep ahold of anything worth keeping. Can’t do it alone, Can’t do it on my own, Can’t get to sleep when I should be sleeping.
He cleaned my heart, He restored my soul, He healed my life, He made me whole. I was sinking, So deep in sin, But He cleaned my heart, When I asked Him in.

WEDNESDAY'S WEEKLY POETRY PROMPTS: 9/18/24 ~ BACK TO THE BASICS
BACK TO THE BASICS © 2024 - G. Smith (BMI) ==================== We had it all, Or something close to it, And I couldn’t believe, You were planning to do it. Planning to toss it, To pitch it and run, To say you were finished, To say you were done.
To pack up your bags, And walk out the door, For reasons you never, Shared with me before. To drive down the street, Without looking back, Without saying a word, About things that you lacked.
So you can go your own way, Try to reinvent the wheel, And find the nugget of truth, In the way that you feel; Or get back to the basics, Of what you know is real, Or go your own way, And try to reinvent the wheel.
Will you make it to Dallas? Will you make it Rome? Will you make it Luckenbach, Before turning back home? Will you make Amarillo? By morning, Abilene? How far will you go, Till you know what I mean?
So you can go your own way, Try to reinvent the wheel, And find the nugget of truth, In the way that you feel; Or get back to the basics, Of the love you know is real; Or go your own way, And try to reinvent the wheel.
