Rhetorical Ink: The Big Bang Theory, “The Proton Regeneration“ Review
**BIG BANG-Y SPOILERS BELOW**
My Top Ten Thoughts on The Big Bang Theory, Season 11, Episode 6:
10. Rebooting the Professor Proton show? I can see Sheldon’s point about Doctor Who and Ghostbusters -- I’m not sure I’d want it rebooted either.
9. Howard’s getting a Vasectomy and while he proposed the idea, he’s scared now...points to Bernadette for being a voice of reason. Points from Raj for making the situation about him. Even as a friend...it went a little far.
8. “Good binary!” Aww, I really like Sheldon as Professor Proton -- and Amy’s “hiding” of his mania in the audition was hilarious too! I can see them accepting Sheldon, but trying to force him a “dumbed down” script, and him getting mad by it. Maybe he can be coaxed like Sheldon via being a “character” like when he plays D&D. Let’s see what happens!
7. Howard is on bed rest, which means he’s going to be lazy as all get out...and again, we get an “awkward” (Raj’s words, not mine) moment where Raj has to check Howard’s genitals for swelling or inflammation. We get what you’re setting up, Chuck...You all know my feelings on that issue.
6. “I need an acting coach -- will you get me Patrick Stewart’s number?” GOLDEN LINE. Ha! Will Wheaton coaching Sheldon...okay, but wait...
5. ...DUN DUN DUNNN! Whil Wheaton was cast as Professor Proton! Sheldon’s scream could be heard from all the way on the third floor!
4. “What part of R.I.P. don’t you understand?!” I just love Bob Newhart’s dryness in this role. I am all for this parody of Obi-Wan from Star Wars with Sheldon. And the callback later is reminiscent of The Return of the Jedi -- nice!
3. Ooooohhh, so Penny isn’t trusted to watch Halle by Bernadette and Howard...surprising...no one. I honestly can relate to Penny here. I am NOT a baby person!
2. So Whil gives a heartfelt speech to Sheldon, and while it doesn’t really work -- Sheldon is convinced to leave by Whil’s may or maybe not existent dog.
1. “Mama!” So Halle says her first words...to Penny! Fair enough -- both are pretty blondes. Of course, after all the nagging Penny endures about her irresponsibility in taking care of Halle, she tells the baby she’ll take her to her parents to “rub it in their faces.” Touche!
