I can’t stop laughing when I wear it because she made it out of a remnant from her kitchen curtains. When we’re living for the applause of others, we lose sight of the cause God has for us. If Christ’s story had ended after his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, he would have just been a famous prophet, not the Savior of the world that we needed. If he’d been content with a crowd cheering his name, if he had caved under the pressure of that same crowd beginning to jeer at and mock him a few days later, and denounced his name to Pilate as not being the Son of God, sure he could have been famous, celebrated, and liked. But this was not his purpose. His purpose was to be radical, redemptive, resurrected. He was not living for the worlds’ approval, He was living to complete God’s story. And we are called to become like Christ.
