Say what you want about the later Percy Jackson books, the series as a whole, or even Rick Riordan, but Rick Riordan was the first author to introduce a happy queer couple to me. I don’t think a lot of adults understand how important it is to have happy queer people in media because before solangelo every other queer couple I had seen someone was dead and god I was fucking tired of queer people dying. So Solangelo means the world to me and thank you Rick Riordan for being one of the few writers that actually allowed their queer characters to exist outside of tragedy.
don't worry guys, Riordan told me he's going to make three senior-year focused books about Lost Trio + Shel. They're reviving Jason, they have friendship moments, they go on quests for Jason's recommendation letters (assuming he needs them too idk, but maybe the plot twist is that Jason doesn't want to go NRU), their character arcs will be fully developed and tied neatly with a bow IN THEIR OWN POVS, more Shelper, Shelper flashbacks, getting to know Shel, maybe Valgrace in a very undefined-romantic-tension way maybe, lost trio healing and hanging out, lost trio coming of age, angst and funnies but also happiness and joy and whimsy and them being stupid kids
it's gonna be great!
